These were a different story. They came with the bulbs inserted in a block of foam. The fit was really tight, and in trying to remove the first one, the metal base became detached from the glass. I had two thoughts: 1) maybe I did something wrong? 2) How could I have done anything wrong in merely trying to get one out?The remaining 4 bulbs were still in the foam. I took my finger and could wiggle the metal part on two of them indicating the problem with at least those two occurred prior to my receipt of them. I then very carefully removed the bulbs. Out of 5, only 1 was still mated to the glass. I went to screw it in. Once it became snug in the socket, the glass separated from the base.I think you have two problems:1- the packaging foam is unnecessarily tight on the bulbs. So tight that many are damaged in the factory prior to shipping.2- the glue used between the metal base and the glass globe is either too old or not what is needed for the job.I would have the QC people at your facility take a look at this and suggest new procedures to your production people. Shipping defective product is not good for your business.I would appreciate it if you could reply to this e mail and indicate whether I should involve Amazon or if you would like to ship to me directly 1-4W globe and 5-5.5W globes as per the Amazon description above. My preference is for you to ship directly and if you want the defective ones back, enclose a return shipping label.New comments:The company responded immediately to the e-mail. They expressed their concern that I was not happy and assured me they would provide the replacements I requested. As of today, about a week later, I have received a box of (5) 5.5w bulbs, but no replacement for the 4w bulb that lit only 1/2 the filaments.Of the replacements I have received, they came once again pressed into the tight foam block. Before removing them, I of course, checked them. One had the metal loose from the glass as described above. The other 4 seemed OK. I took an extraordinary degree of care to remove them. And, was able to very carefully install them in my fixture while being very careful to not snug them anywhere near the amount I would any other normal bulb. The 4 bulbs are working fine. After another few heat / cooling cycles, I'll probably make sure they are still snug enough, though I am afraid to be too normal with them.Draw your own conclusions, but I guess I would expect buying working light bulbs to be more trouble free than this. I don't think, at 65 years old, I need any training on how to install light bulbs. I also was a QC person for a corporation for a while, and believe failure analysis to be something I learned there.
