My Ethan Allen furniture had nailed on plastic glides that I needed to remove before adding the Safeglides. I used a small screwdriver to pry off the plastic glides. Warning: make sure you do not gouge your hand with a screwdriver while removing the original nailed-in glides. ### ⭐⭐⭐ 3.0 out of 5 stars If you can get them in they work. *by G***D on Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2013* I bought these to put on the bottoms of my dining room table and chair legs since we just put hardwood floors in. We had a hard time pounding them in. The metal edges kept bending flat and wouldn't allow it to penetrate the wood. We had to hit t just right or it bent the metal edge flat and ruined the safeguard. We ruined about a third of them, which is disappointing because we have other chairs we wanted to do. However, the ones that did go in are great. The chairs slide with ease across the hardwood with no marks. In defense of the product, the wood is older so it might be pretty hard. We did split out two legs that we had to glue and clamp back together. That was a pain. The manufacturer needs to make the round metal inserts out of a harder, sharper material. You can actually bend them with your fingers. I've used the kind that stick on with adhesive but the start coming off in a few months. First set I'd Safeglides have lasted for about 2 years on dining table chairs. The are still in decent shape but wanted to replace before they got bad.
