A: You have to consider not only shear strength, but also if the item attached is producing any torque, ie. trying to pull the toggle bolt out from the concrete block. They are quite strong, but I would not bet my life on them, nor would I hang something very heavy with them. Also depends on how many toggle bolts you are using. As a guess, a couple of bolts should hold aroung 50 pounds without a problem.

I like the toggle bolts. As well made as I've ever seen. However the listing says drill 5/8" hole. 5/8 is too small. I wasted about $30 on 2 - 5/8 bits, one SDS and one high speed steel twist drill. Use 11/16 or 3/4.
