## Questions & Answers

**Q: Would this camera be better than the 70D in terms of video and photo??**
A: I purchased a 70D new and it had soft non sharp photos. I really loved the build quality but the images were not sharp enough. I purchased a Nikon D3300 which has razor sharp images but much slower video auto focus.

**Q: Does the white body and lens get dirty quick?**
A: I’ve had a white SL1 for about 3 years now, and it still looks as good as the day I bought it. I had the same concern as you, and worried that over time the white plastic would turn yellow from the oil on my hands or that the camera would just start to look dirty. It hasn’t, and I use the camera quite a lot.

**Q: Does the camera come with a neck strap? and what is included in the package?**
A: It comes with the strap, battery and charger, camera, and manual. Sometimes it comes with a lens too, if you choose that option.

If you would like more info about the SL2, you should check out the review I have on my profile. It covers the pros and cons, offers advice for how to use the camera, and also has sample images taken with the camera. There is also a list of lenses I recommend to use with SL2, and a break down comparison with other cameras in it's class. Here is a link to the review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1DHQJS815O87M?ref=pf_ov_at_pdctrvw_srp

**Q: Hello, can i transfer photos directly from this camera to my pc via bluetooth?**
A: I don't think the bluetooth can transfer to a PC, but it can to tablets and smartphones. For PC I would use the wifi instead.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect Camera for a Beginner Like Me
*by on Reviewed in the United States 26 April 2019*

The initial reason I bought this camera was for YouTube. I did a lot of research on the best budget camera for 1080P 60FPS and ended up looking at the SL2. All the professional reviews I read and watched (like the review by Chris Winter) said that this was a great camera for the price and was an excellent choice for beginner to intermediate photographers.I am very new to photography and this is my first DSLR. In the two months I've had this, I've never regretted this purchase once. Now whenever there is a possibility of being in a location where I could take some cool pictures, I take my camera with me. I get so excited when I get to use it.Pros-The included kit lens is a steal. I feel the 18-55mm focal range is great for a beginner photographer. Gives you the ability to zoom without quality loss and at the current price, it's only $100 more than just the body. I didn't realize how expensive lenses are, so $100 for a decent lens is crazy good. The Feature Assistant. This feature is great for people who are learning about photography. Using the dial to switch to different modes will show a basic screen on the LCD showing how different setting affect the outcome of your picture.LCD autofocus. When using the LCD screen, the dual-pixel auto-focus is really good at tracking faces. REALLY GOOD.Battery life. Now, I can't compare this to other cameras as I've never owned another one, but after about 700ish pictures and some video, the battery meter still shows 50%. The battery life exceeded expectations.Small and lightweight. Again, nothing to compare this too, but this is very comfortable to hold for long periods of time. The body and kit lens together weight less than two pounds.Picture quality. Right now, the pictures I'm taking aren't the best as I'm still learning, but despite that I'm really loving the quality of what I take. I've also seen what professionals have taken with this camera and it's great.Touch focus. When I've taken some b-roll video of inanimate objects, sometimes the auto focus has a hard time settling on one thing, causing it to blur for a split second while it redetermines where it should focus. You can easily touch the screen where you want it to focus and it will stay focused on that spot even if you move the camera around a bit.Video quality. Now, this doesn't do 4K, so that might be a con for some people, but I'm perfectly fine shooing at 1080P. I prefer to record at 60FPS as well, which this camera does quite well. Besides the auto-focus getting a bit goofy sometimes when filming objects instead of people, it still does a great job. Very happy with the quality and with a lower aperture lens, I'm sure the quality would be even better.Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. I use this all the time to transfer pictures to my phone either to see how well my photos are turning out or to quickly edit photos and upload them to social media from my phone. This has been a more useful feature than I thought it would be.LCD screen. From what I saw when looking for a camera to buy, most of the cameras had a fixed screen or didn't have a touchscreen. The SL2 has both a touchscreen and an adjustable screen. This is very handy when you are vlogging or trying to use the screen at an angle where you normally wouldn't be able to see the screen. The touchscreen also is nice and has helped me from transitioning from taking pictures on my phone to using a DSLR.The kit lens. This is a great lens to get with this body if you're a beginner. Even though the aperture is a bit high for my taste( I shoot a lot in low lighting), it gives you the ability to zoom and take great pictures from a farther distance or shoot close ups without having to change lenses. For $100 extra, it's a steal.Cons-Kit lens F Stop. Not a huge con since this lens was only $100 extra with the body, but the lens isn't the best for low-light shooting.Built-in mic. The built in mic start having major issues when the noise levels start getting loud. Also not the greatest mic. Bought an external mic which handled audio much better. To be honest, I can't think of a lot of cons and that's probably because this is my only experience with more professional grade cameras. I have really enjoyed using this camera and it has gotten me very excited to learn so I can take full advantage of the hardware.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Landscape Camera
*by on Reviewed in Canada 24 April 2018*

I did my research for the smallest, APSC sized sensor camera (with at least 24 megapixels) also must have had a flip out screen. It also must have an external mic jack. This camera checked all those boxes. Have been amazed with it since owning it. WiFi connectivity is great. Light weight, tons of lens choices and if you read some reviews this sensor is comparable almost identical to the 70D and therefore the low light permformance is just as good, and at a cheaper price point. The only knock is the low frames per second (5) and minimal focus points (9) but keep in mind that only applies if you’re using the viewfinder/eyepiece and not looking at the screen/live view which I do 95% of the time anyway. I do notice the 5 frames per second as I have a small child and you need to be quick to catch the right look/smile sometimes and I don’t use it for wildlife photography, just architecture and landscape photography and it’s perfect for that. It’s missing a few bells and whistles...no built in horizon leveling or focus peaking. Those are the only things I’ve really noticed that I would use from time to time if they were there.Video quality is great, the low light performance can always be improved with faster lens. When compared to the t77i or some of the more expensive “step ups” I just can’t see how the extra cost is justified. For the price, at the time of this review, I just don’t think this camera can be beat.***2 YEAR UPDATE***Have used this camera now for 2 years and in that time I purchased a Canon 6D Mark 2. I put this one up for sale and never had any offers on it so I decided to just keep it. Was the best decision I’ve made. I still, constantly use this one for work (need something smaller and portable but still offers nice photo quality) and it’s just easier to use (it’s simpler) so if I’m in a hurry or don’t have time to deal with the more complicated menu of the 6D2. I also put this camera on a painters pile to “aerial” shots for work and I would never do that with the 6D2. So whether this is your main camera or a secondary one I’m positive you’ll find good use for it.
