Review: Unsure about the Gopher Hawk - For the last 4 years we’ve paid for pest control to set traps to get rid of our mole problem. Living in a rural location with a large garden it was becoming too expensive to keep getting them in. So after god knows how many mole mounds in our front and back garden I read up about the gopher hawk. Seemed like a great option. Had to purchase from the US at a cost of £50. So far no results and I’m beginning to think it’s because I need a few of these traps but at 50 quid a pop it’s just not an option. Would like to see these in the UK at a cheaper price so you can have a number of them set at once. Will report back if I manage to catch a mole.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What do you do when they aren’t dead?**
A: As unsavory as it sounds, but in an effort to expedite the obvious outcome for the gopher, I have on 3 occasions stomped on the Gopher.  I wear a sized 16 shoe and death for the animal is certain and immediate.  Sounds gruesome, but It only suffers in the snare another second or 2 from the time I retrieve it utill It's dead.  Dont get me wrong.  I'm not holding a funeral wake for any of these destructive pests, but I take no satisfaction in it either.  It's just to me the quickest easiest way.

**Q: I accidentally ordered just the trap. Can it be set without the wedge and probe tools?**
A: The probe is easy to do without - just use a long screw driver to find the hole. The wedge is going to be harder to live without.  It does a nice job opening up the tunnel without collapsing it.  My advice would be to buy another full kit and then you can have two traps set at the same time.

**Q: Just double checking, does this really work on moles?**
A: It is not designed to work on moles. I have caught moles with this trap but the mole was using a gopher tunnel, not his own shallow one.

**Q: I see in the reviews that this unit has broken for some after only a few uses. What is the warranty on this unit?**
A: My wedge tool broke so I emailed them about warranty.  There is zero warranty!  Not only have I purchased 6 of these but two of my neighbors also purchased a bunch because I told them about the trap.  Best that gopher hawk could do for me is allow me to buy another trap set with the wedge.  Are you F ing kidding me?  Piss poor service if you ask me!  Least they could do is give me a free cheap piece of plastic wedge tool!

This trap is a winner. I have used many different types of traps to catch moles, and this trap is way more effective. I caught two moles I had been trying to catch for two years. The trap is very easy to set up, with the mere use of a stick to poke a hole in the ground, minimally disturbing the mole's tunnel. The trap is best suited for tunnels that are six inches or more deep. I am very satisfied with this trap. Well designed. Just be careful not to crush the metal straps when you set the spring.
