I've found if you grasp the scissors VERY loosely, the nub doesn't catch, but at that point these scissors aren't even practical to use anymore. Unfortunately, this was not the only problem--the inside seam of both finger holes is not smoothed down at all, but instead, has jutting metal bumps. After a couple minutes of cutting, my fingers are rubbed sore and red, and my regret at buying these scissors is renewed. Having paid $20 for the scissors and already thrown away the packaging, I made do by lining the finger holes in duct tape and only using these scissors to cut out pattern pieces now.
