We were spending some time at a marina in Charleston SC and I had my bike there locked up to the bike rack. Because we were using a car I didn't really use my bike that often so it just sat there, locked up to the bike rack. After a few months we decided it was time to move on (winter in The Bahamas FTW!) so I went to retrieve my bike from the rack. The night before we left some idiot stole my bike! Not only did they steal my bike, they decided they didn't want my daughter's child seat that was attached to the bike so the left it there on the ground. Right next to where my awesome bike was!!! I was super pissed, but what can you do? My bike is a gunmetal grey fixed gear with orange rims, so it's not exactly going to blend in with all the other stolen bikes.So we set sail and head for The Bahamas. Eight months later we're done with The Bahamas and and heading back through Charleston. We stop at the same marina for a while and guess what I see locked up to the bike rack??? MY BIKE!!! I guess some idiot that lives at the marina full-time stole it and then figured when no one started asking around about it that he was in the clear. Now I know this guy is an idiot because he installed a rear brake with black pads (every hipster knows that's not cool to do on a fixed gear bike and the black will stain the rims. My friend Trey is a reporter for a newspaper and therefore super hipster, and he agrees) and he changed the standard black handle bar to a metallic orange. The new orange handlebar didn't match the wheels at all and looks like metallic krylon paint that a redneck would use to spray paint a bowling ball at Halloween to save the 5 bucks instead of buying a pumpkin. So we cut the lock, ditched the terrible handlebars and brake, and got my bike back. I ordered a new black handlebar and installed these grips on it. They work well and look super hipster. I keep getting recruitment emails from Jimmy John's cause they want me to deliver subs. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Skinnier than Ourys - but pretty decent. *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2014* I have some Ourys on another bike, which I like, but tried these for a change. The Ourys' rubber is 1mm thicker, meaning on the same sized bars these are 30mm and the Ourys are 32mm. The difference is bigger than it sounds, coupled with the comfortable squish of the Oury's thicker rubber, these definitely come second in comfort.On the plus side I prefer the style of these and don't like the intrusive branding on the Ourys (I turned that to face the ground - advertise somewhere else Oury).I fitted them by slipping 3 zip-ties inside, sliding them over the bars, then pulling the zip-ties out. This is the best solution IMO - firmly located without using any bonding. I have used alcohol to slide them on, but it's tricky not to overdo it and can take a while to dry out properly. Some people suggest hairspray, but this will make them hard to remove later. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fits a kids 16" BMX-style bike *by B***E on Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2016* Super easy installation (a little dish soap on the bars and these grips slid right on). These fit the circumference of the handlebar fine and once the dish soap dried, the grips don't slip. They fit great on my kids' Specialized Hot Rock 16" BMX-style bike, which has coaster brakes. Because the bike has no hand brakes, no adjustments to the grip length were needed. They are probably sized for an adult bike, so they do look a bit long on the handlebar by an inch or so, but that is truly no big deal. My son's bike is black and yellow and the original grips (which had ripped at the ends so needed to be replaced) were black, so these add a nice splash of color. My kid likes them. Price is great.
