These adjust the height of the knee pads. Of course it makes the pockets almost useless for normal use. Was a surprise to me too. **Q: What’s the longest inside leg you do with a 42”waist? Can’t rate highly enough. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 19 January 2021* During lockdown I’ve been walking a great deal through the countryside and I’ve ruined a few pairs of jeans as well as experienced soreness from chafing. I decided to give these a go as they look pretty cool.I was concerned about the leg length as normally when I order anything online, the legs are too long. I’m 5’9 but my legs are well built but short.I’ve been using them now for a week or so and they’re incredible for the price.They’re lightweight but thick strong fabric, they fit great in their standard way of wearing (think snow trousers). They are snug but not tight around the thighs and crotch and sit close to the seat which prevents thigh chafing. The bottoms fit easily over all boots and they hang like a decent pair of cargo pants.However, they also have Velcro tabs around the knee and ankle areas so that you can make them fit and look like military trousers. I have worn them both ways and both are excellent. They also have a knee pocket with Velcro in the undersides so that you could add knee protection if you wished. Probably useful if a tradesperson.The fabric itself is lightweight but good quality and feels waterproof, yet I’ve yet to test.They don’t feel like they would be warm to wear outside but they actually are but breathable at the same time.I’m looking to buy another pair in a different colour now. Great idea, that I’ve personally added to previous pants.Just remove the internal "garter arrangement" in each leg whereby in each side pocket there is a tape that runs down to near the knee. Totally unnecessary!Just had another order delivered, except they aren't the same size!! The “pull tabs” are gone!! but so are the big leg pocket internal “pockets” (see above) that held a phone upright; necessary when getting into/out of a car or chair!!! Come on tailors, sort it out!
