Note that the screens themselves Do Not separate. Fine grounds have gotten trapped in mine rendering it almost useless. **Q: Can we have a serious answer on intensive cleaning for these? The screens don't come apart and once their clogged with fine grounds they don't work.** A: I had the same problem. I soaked the screen in a lye solution overnight and it cleaned up nicely. If you have safety concerns about using lye, simmering the screen in a baking soda solution for an hour or two might work. If there's a mexican grocery near you, ask for KAL (aka lime, aka calcium hydroxide, used to make masa). KAL is more caustic than baking soda, but still safe to work with. **Q: Does this filler influence the flavor of the coffee in anyway when compared to paper or cloth filters?** A: Yes, it does.
