There is approximately 7.75" behind that point where the boom exits the stand clamp to the rear of the boom. Therefore, the entire length of the boom is approximately 37", but your mic reach will depend on the length of the microphone plus 29" from the point that the mic stand and boom meet. You will get close to a 37" reach, but at that length it is necessary to hang additional weight on the back of the boom if you have a heavy mic (or bungee cords to hold up a mic such as an Electrovoice RE-20). I have used mine with an EV RE-20 since 2018 and it has held up, but it has developed a slight bend from using it with the EV at extended lengths for days or weeks at a time. **Q: what is the maximum extension?** A: Hello, Boom arm length is 800 mm.
