This kit has both the tea leaf and the crunchy topping. Look through the reviews for another reviewer's addition to the tea leaf for a good copy of the BSS salad. It is definitely SPICY! So know that it packs some heat if you're not used that. You could probably add less of the tea leaf mixture to tame it. I actually like the spicy/heat. I like adding fresh avocado and that helps tame the heat. (chopped romaine lettuce, diced tomatoes and juice of half a fresh lemon with a spoonful of the tea leaf mix and sprinkled the crunchy topping). I've had several servings and still have 1/4 of the tea leaf mixture and 1/2 bag of the crunchy topping so this kit could make several servings for one person. Tea leaf salad was something we fell in love with after discovering the Rangoon Burmese Kitchen, a great little restaurant in Chinatown on Oahu. My girl is amazing with food and I trust her palate. We both liked it but immediately she tasted msg and we struggled to read the “ingredients” label as it is ridiculously microscopic and it turns out it doesn’t list the ingredients. We got about 4 servings total after eating it as a main course after adding quite a bit of other greens, tomatoes and other fresh ingredients and eating it with rice as a side. We may add even more greens to stretch it further next time. Pro’s were the flavor & the packaging was sealed well. Con’s were all in labeling and being transparent with contents. 1 star removed as we should know what we are buying and eating. Labeling doesn’t list ingredients (like what kind of seeds, oil, nuts…), + msg always needs to be listed - does it have it, or not? That’s not negotiable. The box is cellophane wrapped and the tea leaves are in a sealed bag separate from the rest.I would think the shelf life would be measured in years. **Q: what size is this? i can't find that info anywhere** A: Total weight 495 gram(17.2 OZ) Assorted Mixed Bean & Spicy tea leaves **Q: What exactly does this contain? The fermented tea? the crispy nuts/seeds? Or both?** A: Both. It has more of the crispy nuts/seeds than of the fermented tea. Warning: I found this brand of the fermented tea to be much too spicy. It defeated the purpose of not having to make my own from scratch because I had to make some without any pepper or chili sauce to get an acceptable level of heat (for me and my husband). I have had tea leaf salads in restaurants and none had this level of heat. **Q: Expiration date? thanks. This mix isn't as good as the "real thing" but it's very easy to use and very fast.
