Does the plastic pitcher have a handle or not? Thx!** A: The Cover, which reduces noise of blender, has a handle. There is no handle on he blending pitcher inside of the Cover. **Q: is the jar glass or plastic?** A: plastic **Q: Does the bottom of the pitcher come off for easy cleaning and food removal?** A: I haven't tried to remove it since there is a cleaning cycle - you add water/detergent and turn it on to make sure the pitcher is clean. For liquids (e.g. smoothies) I have not had to use this, I can get it very clean just washing by hand. It is also dishwasher safe. **Q: How does this do blending ice? Could it blend a whole tray of ice?** A: It may do ice but the motor seems to peter out after a few seconds I would save my money and purchase a better blender. I didn’t want to be too loud in my apartment and was worried about annoying my neighbors. But I didn’t want to sacrifice on the performance. I read lots of reviews and metrics about some of the better-known high-end blenders, and even considered making my own acrylic sound shield for a Vitamix. Eventually I decided I was being kind of crazy and that I didn’t need a $500 blender. Because of the great review, and very quiet noise tests, on the Rtings site, I decided to go with this one. It works great, has enough capacity for what I need, and is significantly quieter than I expected it to be. Don’t get me wrong, all blenders are pretty loud and this is no exception. But I was very surprised how effective the noise cover was. This is a great option if you need a medium-sized blender and you’re concerned about noise level.
