I don't see why it would not work with the crawler, if you use the right gears, all,Lego components are compatible, even when mixing regular Lego with technics with a bit of ingenuity it works! = ) **Q: which motor is faster** A: Power Functions M-Motor is faster than L and XL motors. **Q: does this come in Lego box or is it repackaged?** A: No box. It comes in sealed Lego plastic bag. **Q: does it come with a switch** A: Some of the older sets did not have a switch or anything to control a motor but most of the new sets do have controls. This could be in the motor housing or battery pack. Buy these if you want your Technic models to come to life - the smaller, cheaper M motors just aren't suited for moving big models at a decent pace nor are they torquey enough to perform heavy duty functions. I used one of these to power a dump function and the motor with gearing easily lifts 2kg!
