Review: Highly recommended! - Sometimes these can be a bit challenging to find in my local pharmacy. I like the price and the quality. As a senior citizen, I like to give my immune system a boost from time to time. I'm not convinced of the benefits, but I figure I can't go wrong by trying these.
Review: "Take this sinus infection!" - I am a chronic sufferer of bacterial sinus infection. Ask me why, and I can give you some long winded explanation about a slightly deviated septum and sinus design, and a slew of other stuff that I've read and heard from my doctor. Bottom line, both you and I don't care the reasoning, but rather, preventative care. I can tell you that these Elderberry capsules help. If I get "that feeling" like a sinus infection is impending, I'll start popping two of these twice a day. 9 times out of 10, I can stave off the infection from grabbing a foothold in my sinuses long enough to let my immune system kick it completely out (without antibiotics and/or steroids). Does it help get rid of a sinus infection already in place?: inconclusive from my experience. Once I have a sinus infection, it takes about the same amount of time to get rid of it whether or not I'm taking it. Maybe I get rid of it a day soon, but statistically that's probably considered to be "noise in the data". Does it work for flu and other viral colds? I can't tell you that. I know that bacterial sinus infections can be precipitated by viral infections, but excluding bacterial sinus infection, I don't get sick. I've had the flu maybe twice in the last 20 years. Bottom line I have no experience with regard to using this to fight flu. Can't hurt to try though (I don't think you can OD on berries easily, could be wrong though). Does it have any other benefits? Heck, I've experienced allergic reactions to homeopathic remedies that landed me in worse trouble than before. Elderberry is a homeopathic remedy that works for me. Will it work for you? Maybe, maybe not, every body is different, and it could be that my body utilizes it due to a deficiency of something that elderberry has. Summary (tl;dr): Get it and try the bottle once. You can take it all the time, but I find it sufficient to take them when I feel a sinus infection coming on (I mean, who *wants* to take a bunch of pills at breakfast). ## Questions & Answers

**Q: Are these organic?**
A: No, it does not say anywhere on the bottle that they are organic (I double checked my bottle). I seem to remember I couldn't find any elderberry in capsule form that were organic. If you want organic you'd either need to look for the syrup or other extract forms, or get the Gaia Herb liquid capsules ($19-25). Extracts pack a better punch anyhow. These capsules are good for daily use- in place of echinacea. (Side note- echinacea should not be taken daily because it over stimulates your immune and can cause immune issues. Elderberry and echniacea both have a compound in them that inhibits the enzyme that viri secrete to break down the cell wall so they can get inside the cell and make it a virus making factory. Echinacea also stimulates your immune system as well, even if no virus is there, it will essentially flag the immune to engage as if there was. That way it will be pumped up and ready for when a cold hits, which is why it's okay to take it for several days here and there if you're around sick people or traveling. But taking it longer it can create, simply put kind of a "boy who called wolf" with your immune, or it could overstimulate to the point of your immune kicking into autoimmune and attacking your body. Neither are good, obviously. Just a FYI who to people who take Echinacea all the time.) But if you're battling a cold extract is the way to go. I have these for every day use as a preventative, and the Sambucus Super Concentrated extract for if I am fighting something (5000mg per teaspoon).

**Q: How big are the pills?**
A: They are the smaller capsules. Or standard size as most capsules. I think OO size. They are not the big ones seen with some products.

**Q: Do you cook the berries/flowes and test them for cyanide?**
A: The bottle indicates it has berries and flowers. It is not an extract.  Some people are more sensitive to the cyanide inducing constituents in elderberries than others, so if you are one of these people, are pregnant, or nursing, you should contact the manufacturer and ask about their processing steps.

**Q: What are the ingredients in these elderberry capsules.  The ingredients in the bottle pictured says fo-ti...not elderberry.**
A: 5 calories, total carbohydrates 1g, sodium 5 mgelderberry (Berry) 920 Mgelderberry (Powder) 230 MgOther ingredients : Gelatin (capsules) Silica.Hope this helps.  I take it for flu like symptoms, sore throat, cold etc.  I guess for upper rasperatory symptons.  I avoid flu shots, anti biotics & horrible steroids...Good luck.
