It called for 200 milliliters of skim milk and 100 milliliters of heavy cream. First, I had to find a measuring cup that could tell me the milliliters. Fortunately, I did have one, but I didn't have any heavy cream.Undeterred, I decided this would be ice milk rather than ice cream since I didn't want to wait for a shopping trip. My mom used to buy ice milk back in the 1960s. I'm guessing it was cheaper, but also lower in calories.The recipe called for a ripe banana, mashed until smooth. I had that and decided to expand on the recipe by adding chopped-up bits of a chocolate bar. I'd had the freezer bowl in the freezer for several days so it was ready.I started the paddles going and then poured in the milk mixture. It is preset for 20 minutes, though by 19 minutes, it was laboring to turn and making a few clunking sounds. I unplugged it then as those sounds meant the concoction was adequately frozen. I scooped out the ice milk and put it in the pint container that came with the set. It could have been eaten at that point, but I decided to give it additional hardening time in the freezer section of my fridge.The clean-up was fairly quick as I just rinsed or wiped down the various parts. You can't put the part with the motor in water, so just wipe the spout where you pour in the mixture and also any drips on the sides.This makes a good-sized bowl of ice cream for 2 people or 3 or 4 tiny servings if you want to use it as topping for an apple pie or a brownie.It's not a real quiet machine but it did a good job of freezing the dessert. My next batch is going to be frozen yogurt.You have to plan ahead so you freeze the bowl for 48 hours and it does take up space in your freezer. It's going to be fun trying out different recipes. It has clear, easy to follow directions for set up and recipes that are good too. It is small, but comes with everything you need to make about a pint of ice cream per recipe. It's also very easy to clean up when you're done and it's not too large, so it's easy to store as well. It makes very creamy, smooth ice cream. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Made in China. This one is a little bit similar, in that you freeze the “bucket” first before using. There are two things which make this one not as nice as Cuisinart. . .#1, The paddle is not strong enough. #2, The motor is not strong enough. If you like your ice “creamy” and not that firm. . . Then this one might work for you. Even the Cuisinart will not make it “hard”, but it will be firmer than this one. . .plus. . . you don’t have an “issue” with adding “extras” like fruit, nuts and so on.This ice cream maker is Made in China and being sold by a Chinese company on Amazon. At the current price of 80 bucks. . . it’s at least twice the price it should be.
