We tried not to use the tethers for long. As soon as our son could slow down/stop, we took the tethers off, since it’s a bit awkward to ski behind him, while using them. The best thing about the harness is the handle on the back that you use to pull your child up. It makes getting on the ski left so much easier. We also used the handle, if our kiddo fell and absolutely couldn’t get up. We bought one of these when our kiddo was 21 months and he still uses it at 5 y/o. He skis black diamond runs, but we still put the harness on every time, to help with the chair lift. Highly recommend this harness. Our recent purchase was for a family member.
