Good product. 5 starz Review: Smooth, easy to use wax for oil cloth - My Kakadu Oil Skin waist jacket (ends above the knees) is about 15 years old. It is my "kick around" jacket - that is it gets wadded up behind the seat of my Jeep; folded up and bungee'd on the back of my motorcycle; broken out in rain, mist, and wet weather. I dug it out a few weeks ago and realized that it had seen better days. It was dried out. Dirty as hell, with patches of mildew in places, and smelled very musty. *sigh* Despite the age and years of abuse, it is still in excellent condition. So I accepted the fact it needed to be washed and overhauled. An extra long wash cycle tumbling in a modern washer produced a dark brown sludge of contamination and oil, all now removed. A tumble in the dryer removed any lingering old wax. I ordered a jar of OT Oilskin Duckback, which promptly came in a couple of days. I set up the ironing board in front of the TV; put on a horrible horror movie from desertcart Prime; donned on latex gloves, and spent the next 2 hours vigorously working nearly 3/4 of a jar deep into the material. I added extra into every seam, around every button, into every fold and pocket. The secret is to take your time. Ensure an even coat. Work the wax deep into the material. Don't just spread it on, but really work it in. Last step was to hang up the jacket to dry for a week, then tumble in a dryer for 15 minutes to ensure that the wax "wicks" into the material evenly. The final results were amazing. I have a light sheen of wax coating the entire jacket evenly, with a rich dark black color. The jacket is softer, and should perform better than new for the 10 years.
