The BurnOut mug is designed specifically to drop the temperature of boiling hot liquids quickly down to around 140 F (hot but not scalding for most people) and then use the energy stored from the phase change in order to keep the liquids at temp for many hours. Because of the added thermal mass of the phase change material, the BurnOut mug isn't well suited to keep near boiling liquids at that temp even if you do pre-charge the mug with boiling water ahead of time.
