I purchased it for my husband to use as a chemical transfer pump because its submersible parts will not break down or corrode under the presence of acids and bases; therefore, water should be even less of a concern. I've read other reviews stating that it is easy to use and clean and will save one's back from the tortures of a standard hand transfer pump. **Q: What diameter of tubing will I need to get to attach to the outlet?** A: A 1" vinyl tube hooked up really well. **Q: If I turn the handle the opposite direction, will it pump fluid the opposite way?** A: No. The vanes are made to so that you turn it one way. **Q: Is this pump okay for kerosene? The description says for "all petroleum products." But then it says "not for gasoline" which is a petroleum product.** A: I woul think so. The pump works on suction. It is cheap chinse poorly manufactured, and needs some work to make it functional. The pickup tube needs to be sealed, I used epoxy. The pump housing needs to be air tight, use a torqwrench to tighten the bolts evenly(important - evenly), also the gasket may be defective - I used 100% clear silicone sealant as a replacment gasket. After I applied the above fixes, it worked just fine. Good luck! ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very Sturdy Feel *by J***E on October 20, 2015* Very solid feeling pump. We purchased this to get rain water out of our roof / gutter collection system. We have multiple 55 gallon drums that are just too heavy to move when full. This unit is light enough to move from drum to drum yet feels very solid and sturdy. We use the water for non drinking water (garden, flushing etc. ) but in an emergency might not have a choice. We tested the unit and it moves water really well from one container to another. We did have some trouble using the bung adapter which I'm assuming would hold the pump in place better but it does work well using one hand to hold the pump and the other to turn the crank. (we use plastic barrels so the threads can be iffy sometimes) pump might work better on a metal barrel. Overall we are pleased with the purchase in regards to quality, price and function. Instructions explain that oil (internal lubrication) is needed to be poured into the crank assy. so I assume that is why its not rated for drinking water. (not a big deal given our water application at this time) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice pump *by H***W on June 9, 2018* No instructions were included, but the pump assembled easily and intuitively. Construction is pretty solid. The inlet and outlet ports are 3/4 BSP, so adapting a different tube would be easy if needed. The pumps works well and I'll probably buy a few more. Thanks. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This pump is great for the money..... *by T***D on May 3, 2014* Received it today and used the provided teflon tape on the intake tube joints. DON'T FORGET TO PUT ON THE BARREL BUNG ADAPTER onto the first section BEFORE ASSEMBLY (don't ask)LEAVE the first 1/8" or so of threads free of tape to aid in starting the threading together easier...I can see where some people have trouble ..the threads are very fine but NICELY MADE.. if you put teflon tape all the way to the end, you may have problems getting them started thats all. there are THREE pipes to thread together.. I PRIMED IT ,upside down with oil( thats what I'm pumping) and when placing it in the barrel , it picked up INSTANTLY and oil was delivered out the spout in a high volume with easy cranking. I love it!
