A 12" diameter globe would be basketball size. A 29" diameter globe would be the height of an average dining-room table. Big difference! **Q: Does it not come with a light bulb? We plugged ours in and nothing is happening** A: The light bulb is already installed inside the globe. Plug it in and then there is an on/off switch on the base of the globe to turn on/off the light. **Q: is the map accurate? i live in the caribbean are all the islands listed ?** A: Yes, it’s like a normal world map during the day and it shows the constellations (as a night light) at dark. 4 teenage grandkids love it and still use it! **Q: are state capitols shown ?** A: Not all of them. They do have major cities shown. The countries have their capitals marked although I was looking at the globe thru plastic as this is an Xmas gift.
