Everything clicked in this 1994 action hit, from the premise (a city bus has to keep moving at 50 mph or blow up) to the two leads (the usually inscrutable Keanu Reeves and the cute-as-a-button Sandra Bullock) to the villain (Dennis Hopper in psycho mode) to the director (Jan De Bont, who made this film hit the ground running with an edge-of-your-seat opening sequence on a broken elevator). This is the sort of movie that becomes a prototype for a thousand lesser films (including De Bont's lousy sequel, Speed 2: Cruise Control ), but Speed really is a one-of-a-kind experience almost anyone can enjoy. -- Tom Keogh, desertcart.com Jack Traven (Keanu Reeves), an LAPD cop on SWAT detail, has a fearless nature and a keen understanding of the criminal mind, but he is also rather reckless. Together with partner Harry (Jeff Daniels), they rescue a dozen hostages from a booby-trapped elevator rigged by a psychotic ex-cop (Dennis Hopper). With his plans foiled by Jack, the bomber makes alternative arrangements - rigging a city bus to explode if the speedometer drops below 50 mph. It's then up to Jack to save the passengers, including feisty Annie (Sandra Bullock), the passenger who is forced to take the driving wheel after the driver is shot.

Review: The DVD was delivered in great condition - The DVD Speed was received in great condition no problems with playback on my DVD player no scratches on the actual DVD and also i was able to enjoy this classic action movie with a great performances from Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock, Dennis Hopper, Jeff Daniels, and of course Joe Morton who's great in this movie. Great to watch this movie on it's 30th Anniversary the action the thrills the suspense never stops as soon as the film starts great stunt work great score and most importantly you care about the characters on the bus still a great concept, Pop Quiz "There's a bomb on a bus if it goes below 50MPH the bus explodes what do you do"? They don't make them like they used to is a phrase that gets said a lot but in terms of Speed it is certainly true it's still a thrill ride of a movie after all these years.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pop quiz hotshot.... A 90's action classic

Speed is a fun action packed ridiculous 90's action movie which propelled Keanu Reeves as a bonafide action star, his only entry into the action genre was 1991 surfing bank robbers Point Break with the late Patrick Swayze. While Keanu will never any oscars and is really an actor - he is a movie star and displays his limited range very well with pure gusto. As one of Sandra Bullock early movies this movie holds up very well in comparison to other 90's Die Hard style flicks - of which there were many following the success of that film. Fox the studio that made Die Hard had been very against doing a Die Hard style movie, but after seeing the success that rival competitors had they bit the bullet and took the shot. The end result is a fun action packed movie, while dumb and stupid entertains you none the less. It may have helped somewhat that they had Die Hard Cinematographer Jan De Bont make his directorial debut with this movie. The action and cinematography is nothing short of spectacular and is presented really well on this definative DVD with crystal clear picture. Keanu wisely passed on the sequel and it is too bad De Bont and Bullock could recreate the fun tense aspect of this movie again. 5 star movie for sheer entertainment you can't beat, up there with Lethal Weapon, Commando and Cobra.
