But after a bit of research it sounded like Carpuride was the best brand out the bunch of portable CarPlay units.I also have an iPhone 14 pro and I did wonder if it would be worthwhile , as I’ve always used automations and Siri, with the phone placed on a MagSafe charger on a vent holder.With this, I expected laggy and slow, but I didn’t get any of that. The boot up is pretty quick. The initial connection between the unit and my phone was extremely easy with no issues. It defaulted to the CarPlay mode and everything was ready.Both holders are not great for my car , I don’t want it high on my dash as I’m a new driver and I don’t want to mess about. I’ve chosen to stick the flat stand holder on the front my current in car stereo. It’s big enough that I’m not worried about it being angled towards me.I disabled the unit speaker immediately, I hear it’s not great and I connect with aux (my car has no Bluetooth) the cable is long, but I am going to get an ultra short aux cable and I won’t even see it due to the placement of the unit.Sometimes I see reports of having issues with Siri. I’m on ios17 beta and I have no problems (you just say “Siri” now) Siris feedback seems to be through aux too.Maps is flawless, Waze is running perfect too. At first the navigation voices were very quiet vs the music. I’ve since discovered if you choose the volume in CarHome , and select the bars to the right of the volume slider, it gives you further options for navigation volume. Balance both for a perfect volumeMessage announcements work great.Mic audio was an issue in reviews but Siri heard me plenty. I still need to try calls but I’m not a fan of chatting while driving. I tried replying to a text and it worked perfectly.The interface is slick, I can’t fault any of this. I now realise how much easier it is to change between maps and music , and Siri works better than she did on phone alone (bizarre)If you want a minimalist unit that works well with Apple, with no wires, and no need to upgrade your car radio with the cost of fitting, new facias etc, this is it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good bit of kit but could be improved, great screen *by A***R on 16 November 2023* I was a bit sceptical considering the relatively low price of this kit, and the packaging doesn’t inspire much confidence either, but thankfully it outdid my expectations.Here are my main highlights for this product:✔ Supports both Apple and Android✔ Comes with wideangle rear-view camera✔ Large 9-inch touchscreen display✔ All standard inputs and outputs are supported✔ Very responsive interface✖ Had some problems with calls✖ No DAB radio✖ Not the most attractive physical setup—--------As you can see there are a large amount of great things and just a couple of negatives. The first thing that strikes you when it boots up is the quality of the screen. It is 9 inches of IPS loveliness, and even though the resolution is only 1024 x 600, it looks much better than that would suggest. It has great contrast and even video looks excellent. It also has auto-brightness to alter the brightness depending on the ambient light level, which saves you having to mess about with the controls every few minutes when going through the city. It’s the best in-car screen I have tried, and I’ve been through a few over the years.The interface is quick and accurate, like a decent smartphone. I remember the first touchscreen systems and how laggy they used to be; this is on a different planet.The physical in-car setup may be a problem for many people, I would say that if you aren’t confident in what you are doing then don’t try, just get someone who knows what they are doing to have a go. It is possible to get it looking very professional with a bit of effort.This is overall a quality bit of kit for comparatively little money (£220 with Amazon voucher). Compared to the price you would pay for a similar name-brand kit, this is very reasonable. Of course, longevity is the real question. Will it still be working in a couple of years time? It seems to have decent build quality, but you never know what’s actually inside the housing. Decent components or cheap rubbish? Only time will tell. I will update when appropriate. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent car unit *by R***O on 26 March 2024* I brought this one after returning W901 plus which had too many issues and I am very pleased with w901 pro.Unlike w901 plus, there is no issues with Google assistant or popping sound. Andriod Auto works perfectly and with dual bluetooth, I can make calls and play music with speaker at same time.You do need to change Carpuride support for software update for dual bluetooth feature.
