## Questions & Answers

**Q: will these fit an old Stanley 5 1/2 plane?**
A: While I own 3,4,5 and 7 Stanley Planes, I don't have a 5 1/2 plane to see what the exact difference is.  As far as I recall, the 5 1/2 is a wider version of the 5, as such this particular spares set will work on both the older (imperial) and more modern metric versions of the 5 and 7.  The front knob and tote screws for the older planes were non standard 7/32" x 20 tpi Whitworth form.  These, along with the plastic front and rear handles are included in this kit.  These planes were originally supplied with rosewood handles, which can be purchased as separate items.  I am not sure of the exact cost of this spares kit, but the value of obtaining the non-standard handle and knob fixings have to be worth it.  I hope this is of some help to you.

A: I don’t know but the fitting are the same so it should it’s only the length of the sole that’s really different

**Q: Does anyone know if these handles will fit a record no4 plane. this is an old plane from the 1960's.**
A: You get 2 of each so it could. I used mine on a 4 1/2 which is the wider plane

A: The handle does but the diameter of the base of the knob is smaller than that on my 4 1/2. Fortunately my knob didn't need replacing.
