I use them a lot for my own safety/comfort and to tip leaners the way I want.I'm just a home owner clearing a lot of trees, not a professional but it seems hard to beat the value. I've seen a few pros using Red Head wedges but at $10+ a piece I've had a hard time thinking it was worth it, for me. I have broken a 5" wedge and sawed the tip off an 8" but that was my fault not a product defect.I had just barely set the 5" wedge, the wind blew, the tree shifted, out popped the wedge and the kerf closed. I tried to force it back open but the tree was stronger. I've also deformed several hammering them in. They are plastic to save your saw blade and I've been able to file or hit them with an ax to reshape them back. If you need them once they have paid for themselves. Used them the first day I had them. Free up your saw or keep it from getting stuck in the first place. They are plastic, but will hold up well.
