Daughter is due next week, but we have already set up the dresser with the changing pad on top. There is enough room to one side of the pad to keep baby wipes and some lotions. We use the top drawer for diapers to keep them on hand, but out of the way. If you want to secure it, you'd need to drill the safety strap into the dresser. We opted for large Velcro adhesive straps.
