Review: One month review - this one is the keeper - I evaluated 3 different robots in my house, the first was Dreame X40 Ultra, the second is this one, and the third was Ecovacs X5 Pro Omni. The first thing I evaluated was navigation - the base station location in my house is kind of cornered by a large dining room table with 12 chairs around it. Navigating out of this area (or underneath it when it's time to clean that area under the table) is a pretty critical skill for my house. This is where the Dreame X40 Ultra started to piss me off. It was constantly getting confused by the table and chair legs, pausing for long periods of time and trying to determine what to do. It would often "give up" on the task and just return to base telling me mission accomplished, when it hadn't even begun to clean! In addition, cleaning the whole was very inefficient, and would take f o r e v e r. As a contrast, the Eufy S1 Pro is very efficient. It's obstacle avoidance for stationary objects is amazing. It navigates its way around, and next to almost everything, and just finds ways to continue the cleaning path without getting confused. Its cleaning path itself is very clear, and is executed fast and without any hesitations. The roller mop provides excellent coverage compared to the other 2 robots' duo rotating mops, which often leaves uncovered areas. Its edge cleaning is sufficient, though not perfect, and has improved vastly once I set the obstacle avoidance level in the app to its least sensitive setting. Its mopping is great, and feels very similar to my upright Eufy v1 Mach Ultra which is a very good mopper. The existence of an onboard dirty water tank on the robot and the fact the brush continuously self-cleans itself, is a standout feature compared to almost all other robots, and it allows the robot to return to base much less often, thus further improving the efficiency. It also means it deals with wet stains better, although if you expect it to be able to absorb meaningful amounts of spilled fluids, it's not going to happen. The reason is that unlike the upright mop, the robot separates between the dirty water tank (which is basically the dirty water continuously being extracted from the roller using a squeegee), and the vacuum, which has its own dust bin, and that one needs to stay dry. So no suction of fluids, but still better at mopping wet stains than any of the other robots out there. The vacuuming is also good, although I wouldn't say this is its stand out feature - there are probably better vacuuming robots out there, so if vacuuming is what you mostly care about - I would give other robots a second look. I don't use it with my room carpets, only an area rug in the living room, which it can handle easily. Apart from that, the only real problem I faced with this robot is that there is a specific bathroom mat we use which for some robot this robot tried to vacuum and ends up sucking it to its vacuum port, getting the robot stuck and in need of manual assistance to get untangled. I worked around it by placing a small bathroom stool to block the robot from going over this mat. I could have also placed a virtual barrier in the app that it won't cross. Final word - I had the X5 Pro Omni in my house last week and I had some high hopes, but I returned it right after the fist cleaning. Main reason: the robot got completely tangled in the fringes of my area rug to a point I had to manual untangle it multiple times. Unlike the bathroom mat, I can't really avoid this rug if I want it properly vacuumed, so it seems like a non starter for me. In summary, after having seen all 3 robots in action, I think the Eufy S1 Pro stands out big time on most features, including its mopping, cleaning efficiency, obstacle avoidance, and navigation. Its base station is also great, as it self cleans, empties dirty water, washing mops, and refill clean water - all fully automated. Its noise level is probably not its best trait, although completely manageable IMO, as it's only loud for brief periods of time when the base self-cleans (about 2-3 minutes at the end). Vacuuming at max level will probably also be quite loud, but I use the lower, standard suction setting.
Review: OVER HYPED! READ!!! - I've owned a lot of robots both vacuum and vacuum mop over the years, and I was excited to try this one out due to what's unique mopping system that isn't seen many other robots, however, I think the hype of these units is just that. These units have a ton of glitches and bugs, and they've been out long enough that they should be taking care of unsolved but it seems that the manufacturer is taking their sweet time in addressing a lot of the small issues that add up to make it a poor experience that I don't think the pros are worth the trade-offs of the cons at this price point especially. Currently my flagship model and workhorse is the dreame x40 ultra and after trying this s1 pro robot out, I will be purchasing another x40 ultra for our basement and sending the s1 pro back. The mopping system is no better than the x40 ultra despite the advertising, I ran side by side tests on an equally dirty floor after our large wet dogs ran across them, and I used a clean white paper towel to wipe the floor afterwards on both sides and they were dead even, I believe that the mop pads on the x40 ultra will become overloaded with dirt and need to be washed at the base station about the same time the s1 pro will run out of water and have to go back to get more from the base station, so there's not really an advantage to the roller like you would think. Another issue with the roller is the very small contact patch with the ground that I don't see anybody talking about, it's pencil thin, and so unless the robot is moving very very slow, the amount of time that there is a mop on the ground scrubbing on anyone's surface is very low compared to the spinning mops of the x40 ultra that are much larger and are obviously scrubbing for a much longer amount of time while making contact with the ground at the same movement speed. The detergent in the x40 ultra is refillable with your choice of detergent, awesome feature that saves a lot of money being able to buy gallons of floor cleaner and it uses it conservatively, the s1 pro requires you to buy proprietary cartridges which I was not aware of when purchasing, that alone is enough to send it back due to obsolescence of if the manufacturer stopped selling them, and being locked into a niche product line from one brand. Replacement components for the x40 ultra see much more readily available and cheaper as in mop pads bags and filters etc since they seem to be shared throughout many of the common form factor mopping robots on the market from various brands. You have to go avoidance isn't necessarily bad on the s1 pro compared to the x40 ultra, the issue really lies in the software, the amount of options that you have to choose from is disappointingly small, there's so many obvious features that should be there coming from the x40 ultra app that it makes it seem like it's 2008 again and iRobot is what we're dealing with. The mapping is super fast on the s1 pro since it seems to almost 3D scan the room as it moves around and can pick up a pretty good picture of the room after very little movement, but it's thought processes of when it maps and when it changes due to new obstacles etc and just the general interaction of the robot is frustrating, slow, and confusing, inputs at the base station compared to the app don't seem to sync up so if you start the robot at the base station and then go into the app it doesn't seem to reflect in the app that the robot is actually out cleaning and there's no way to stop the robot from the app or really interact with it. I found multiple times where I've initiated settings in the app and then when you click save it doesn't actually save the settings and there's no way to actually implement changes to certain settings. We also have anti-stress / fatigue mats in our kitchen and they are about a half inch thick with a tapered edge, there's no way to distinguish in the s1 pro app to have it mop these, it thinks they are carpeting and the only way to get them to mop them is to turn on the carpet mopping feature which leaves our carpet soaking wet and we don't want that, there's no way to set up individual zones to have different settings, it just applies apparent setting to the global use case for the entire mopping / vacuuming setting. There's also no way to make it vacuum and then mop, you either have to make it vacuum, or vacuum and mop at the same time which gets the brushes wet and causes dirt to stick to them, this is a very basic feature that should be able to be implemented. The s1 pro also does a terrible job at edge cleaning, like shockingly bad, we had lots of debris from our dogs running in the yard around the edges underneath the reveal / toe kicks of our cabinets, I've never seen dirt there after the x40 ultra has deployed, but the s1 pro literally stays back at least an inch to 3 in in some spots no matter what settings I change, and since the roller for the mop is inset slightly it's in some spots almost 4 in where there's no mopping, and the bristles don't get underneath from the side sweepers to pull the dirt into the path of the shockingly tiny vacuum bar, leaving dirt all around underneath the toe kicks of our cabinets, I deployed the x40 ultra afterwards and it got every single speck of dirt from underneath the toe kicks that the s1 pro left behind. The efficiency is very poor on the s1 pro as well because the vacuum bar is so much smaller than the mop bar, it has to overlap its passes by almost 50% in order to have full vacuum bar coverage. The x40 ultra has no problem mopping the anti-fatigue mats, and with the side swing mop and the retractable side sweeper bristles, there is almost no scenario, space, or corner that I have seen the x40 ultra not be able to get dirt out of or mop up to come and it gets way closer to table legs and chair legs. The s1 pro might be good if you have like a warehouse or something that's wide open and has nothing on the floors and you just want to mop primarily the central area quite well, I think it might excel in that, but in most households, especially one that's busy that regularly is receiving desertcart packages, doesn't always get the chairs pushed in around the table, has pets running around etc, the s1 pro has an anemic approach at tackling objects and mopping close to them, where the x40 ultra seems to regularly detect people walking around and pets etc as well as newly placed objects like backpacks and whatnot, and it manages to navigate around them and more importantly remap on the fly and clean around them tight up against them every single time without a hiccup. The x40 ultra also is very good at not falling down the stairs, where's the s1 pro in order to get it to go closer to the edges of cabinets and get it to climb the anti-fatigue mats to at least vacuum them slightly, you have to turn off the sensitivity of its ledge detection, where I found it literally running itself off the edge of the stairs every single time, and even sometimes running itself off the edge of our stairs with the edge detection sensitivity turned on. Another note on the anti-fatigue mats, since I think they're becoming more common to have in residential kitchens if you do food prep, since the vacuum bar is so tiny on the s1 pro, it can only make one pass down the middle of the 80 fatigue mats, and while it does have the dual side bristles, those are really only meant to flick light dirt into the path of the vacuum bar, the vacuum bar having contact with the floor does agitate dirt and pick it up into the airstream, also allowing a lower vacuum power to be ran which increases the runtime of the robot and keeps it quieter, the x40 ultra was able to suck up way more stuff on the minimum mode due to having a way bigger and more aggressive beater bar than the s1 pro was able to even on close to its max setting which is way louder than the x40 ultra on its minimum setting obviously, the side bristles are not a replacement for ground contact with the beater bar so unless you have wide open areas that has no differences in elevation like what you would think of with an anti-fatigue mat, the s1 pro is a poor design for these applications. Even when I could get the s1 pro to mop on the anti fatigue mats, it would normally only do one strip down the middle, and it wouldn't turn them up on until it was halfway through so it would end up only mopping a couple of inches one pass wide in the middle, the x40 ultra has the ability to change the height of the mops and stagger them as well as kick the mop pads out so it will literally mop the beveled angle edge of the anti-fatigue mats and the centers perfectly leaving them spotless every time it takes a little while but it slowly works its way around them and keeps kicking its butt out in order to swing the mop pad down and get every quarter even with the fatigue mats pushed tied up underneath the toe kicks of the cabinets. Both the x40 ultra and the s1 pro are $1,000 on the Black Friday sale right now I would highly recommend picking up the x40 ultra over the s1 pro...

The mapping is super fast on the s1 pro since it seems to almost 3D scan the room as it moves around and can pick up a pretty good picture of the room after very little movement, but it's thought processes of when it maps and when it changes due to new obstacles etc and just the general interaction of the robot is frustrating, slow, and confusing, inputs at the base station compared to the app don't seem to sync up so if you start the robot at the base station and then go into the app it doesn't seem to reflect in the app that the robot is actually out cleaning and there's no way to stop the robot from the app or really interact with it. I found multiple times where I've initiated settings in the app and then when you click save it doesn't actually save the settings and there's no way to actually implement changes to certain settings. We also have anti-stress / fatigue mats in our kitchen and they are about a half inch thick with a tapered edge, there's no way to distinguish in the s1 pro app to have it mop these, it thinks they are carpeting and the only way to get them to mop them is to turn on the carpet mopping feature which leaves our carpet soaking wet and we don't want that, there's no way to set up individual zones to have different settings, it just applies apparent setting to the global use case for the entire mopping / vacuuming setting. There's also no way to make it vacuum and then mop, you either have to make it vacuum, or vacuum and mop at the same time which gets the brushes wet and causes dirt to stick to them, this is a very basic feature that should be able to be implemented. The s1 pro also does a terrible job at edge cleaning, like shockingly bad, we had lots of debris from our dogs running in the yard around the edges underneath the reveal / toe kicks of our cabinets, I've never seen dirt there after the x40 ultra has deployed, but the s1 pro literally stays back at least an inch to 3 in in some spots no matter what settings I change, and since the roller for the mop is inset slightly it's in some spots almost 4 in where there's no mopping, and the bristles don't get underneath from the side sweepers to pull the dirt into the path of the shockingly tiny vacuum bar, leaving dirt all around underneath the toe kicks of our cabinets, I deployed the x40 ultra afterwards and it got every single speck of dirt from underneath the toe kicks that the s1 pro left behind. The efficiency is very poor on the s1 pro as well because the vacuum bar is so much smaller than the mop bar, it has to overlap its passes by almost 50% in order to have full vacuum bar coverage. The x40 ultra has no problem mopping the anti-fatigue mats, and with the side swing mop and the retractable side sweeper bristles, there is almost no scenario, space, or corner that I have seen the x40 ultra not be able to get dirt out of or mop up to come and it gets way closer to table legs and chair legs. The s1 pro might be good if you have like a warehouse or something that's wide open and has nothing on the floors and you just want to mop primarily the central area quite well, I think it might excel in that, but in most households, especially one that's busy that regularly is receiving Amazon packages, doesn't always get the chairs pushed in around the table, has pets running around etc, the s1 pro has an anemic approach at tackling objects and mopping close to them, where the x40 ultra seems to regularly detect people walking around and pets etc as well as newly placed objects like backpacks and whatnot, and it manages to navigate around them and more importantly remap on the fly and clean around them tight up against them every single time without a hiccup. The x40 ultra also is very good at not falling down the stairs, where's the s1 pro in order to get it to go closer to the edges of cabinets and get it to climb the anti-fatigue mats to at least vacuum them slightly, you have to turn off the sensitivity of its ledge detection, where I found it literally running itself off the edge of the stairs every single time, and even sometimes running itself off the edge of our stairs with the edge detection sensitivity turned on. Another note on the anti-fatigue mats, since I think they're becoming more common to have in residential kitchens if you do food prep, since the vacuum bar is so tiny on the s1 pro, it can only make one pass down the middle of the 80 fatigue mats, and while it does have the dual side bristles, those are really only meant to flick light dirt into the path of the vacuum bar, the vacuum bar having contact with the floor does agitate dirt and pick it up into the airstream, also allowing a lower vacuum power to be ran which increases the runtime of the robot and keeps it quieter, the x40 ultra was able to suck up way more stuff on the minimum mode due to having a way bigger and more aggressive beater bar than the s1 pro was able to even on close to its max setting which is way louder than the x40 ultra on its minimum setting obviously, the side bristles are not a replacement for ground contact with the beater bar so unless you have wide open areas that has no differences in elevation like what you would think of with an anti-fatigue mat, the s1 pro is a poor design for these applications. Even when I could get the s1 pro to mop on the anti fatigue mats, it would normally only do one strip down the middle, and it wouldn't turn them up on until it was halfway through so it would end up only mopping a couple of inches one pass wide in the middle, the x40 ultra has the ability to change the height of the mops and stagger them as well as kick the mop pads out so it will literally mop the beveled angle edge of the anti-fatigue mats and the centers perfectly leaving them spotless every time it takes a little while but it slowly works its way around them and keeps kicking its butt out in order to swing the mop pad down and get every quarter even with the fatigue mats pushed tied up underneath the toe kicks of the cabinets. Both the x40 ultra and the s1 pro are $1,000 on the Black Friday sale right now I would highly recommend picking up the x40 ultra over the s1 pro...

WHAT. I run my other robot mop DAILY. Sometimes more than that in a day. I still have the water from it cleaning yesterday (image 1) I ran the eufy for the first time today and this is the water?! (Image 2) what has my mop been doing? It is just as expensive as a mop but uses the spinning mop pads. I did not expect the roller pressure and cleaning the roller as it goes to make this drastic of a difference. I will see how maintaining it is and will update when I know. OTHER MOP (my last one) Shreds its own mop pads when it cleans them in the base station Has ran over pet poop more times than I can count despite that was their #1 selling point at the time It uses the entire container of water with one clean I will update if there’s any similar complaints will this S1 pro! OCT 30 Well it’s been only a few days since we got it and my dog really has it out for this thing. Unfortunately if your lights are off. Its poop recognition isn’t great understandably. It was surprisingly a lot easier to clean after the disaster than I expected and have experienced with other robots. I think either the vacuum or the mop handled the majority. Yikes. But there wasn’t really any traces besides in the wheels which are unfortunately just as hard to clean as others. It is way better at avoiding hitting things than our previous ones, and some how way better at picking up debris with the vacuum than our previous one with lower suction. It’s went over crazy amounts of crumbs and had no problem. It is EXTREMELY nice that when clean water is poured in the part it pours its dirty water, that the pump turns on. Meaning I can clean out the lines with water very easily. The parts on this vacuum come apart to clean so well that I feel I can actually properly clean it. Not like there’s Internal parts that I can’t access that will build up dirt over time. The only thing you can’t access is the clean water tank which should never get dirty anyways I will continue to update as I learn more Nov 1 This thing is still picking up dirt off our floor. We have not reached clear water like we have with my old robot yet
