(First time pool owner)** A: On the disc that spins arounds with all the times of day on it, place the flag for "ON" at what time you want it on. The disc slips into the forked part of the flag. The flag portion goes under the disc to trip the on/off switch as it spins around. The words ON or OFF should face you when you look at the timer. Place a set screw in the hole on the flag and tighten it to hold it in place. The same goes for the "OFF" position flags. I tighten the screws with small pliers as they seem to work loose over time, if I don't. **Q: Why does this come with two different colored 'on' triggers?** A: The two color "ON" switches are different and for different type of timers. Low and be hold I saw a YouTube video about it and was like 'holy cow, is that what's in my garage?' I immediately went out to check and Yes, it is, however, I don't have any of the little clip things that control when the hot water Heater turns on and off. After a little bit of research I discovered these clips and immediately ordered them. Shipping was super fast and were incredibly easy to install, you just screw them on at the times you want your water heater to activate. I specifically chose off hours over night when electricity is at its cheapest. I'll be doing a comparison on my electric bill to see how big a difference it makes. I looked at last month, and my power company does an analysis of usage, and water heaters usually are a third of a home's monthly usage. If that's the case, my Water heater was boiling that water continuously, I should see a significant difference in my next bill. Fingers crossed!
