Recently the thermostat was showing faults and the system wouldn't function properly. The fault codes were strange and really weren't related but basic troubleshooting, without referring to the fault codes, led to the problem. Had to replace a start relay and capacitor months ago and now another relay was showing stress. Research led me to the conclusion that the aged compressor was having trouble starting. This SPP6 Hard Start Capacitor was the answer. As soon as I installed it and reapplied power, the compressor had no issues firing up. System has been working flawlessly with no fault codes for over two months now. Some HVAC websites actually recommend installing these on new systems to prolong component life.
