Skookum as frig. Great for your Cockford-Ollie on your empire of dirt. **Q: is it ok to use an x-acto knife on this?** A: My mat is permanently damaged from an x-acto knife being used on it. If you must I would suggest using the back of the mat. Better still find a less expensive surface for use with a craft blade. **Q: Where is the mat made?** A: This cutting mat is made in Japan **Q: How to get rid of the bad skunk smell on the mat?** A: I returned my mat because of that. It smells like petro chemicals to me and I’m chemically sensitive. I called Olfa. The rep acknowledged the problem and said “eventually it will stop,” suggested I rub it with half a lemon. I did. Helped, but not substantially. I boxed it up and got it out of the house and ready for return pick up. Replaced it with a Calibre Art mat. Really well made, no toxic materials or chemicals, no smell. Never heard of this brand but love my new mat. Se me hizo un poco delgado el tapete de corte comparado con otras marcas, pero al final de cuentas funciona muy bien y aguanta todo tipo de cortes.
