Review: sometimes just breaks and does not do basics. - Example 3-Star Review Title: Good little development board, but not ideal for USB keyboard projects Review: I bought this ESP32-S3 1.47" LCD development board to experiment with a small USB device project. The hardware itself is quite impressive for the price. It has built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a small colour display, and plenty of flash and PSRAM, which makes it capable of running graphical interfaces and IoT projects. However, for my specific use case it wasn’t as straightforward as I hoped. I wanted to use it as a USB keyboard bridge for a speech-to-text project. While the board can successfully emulate a keyboard, I ran into limitations when trying to use USB serial communication and USB keyboard functionality at the same time. That made my particular setup unreliable and harder to implement than expected. To be fair, this is more of a limitation of the ESP32-S3 USB stack and development ecosystem rather than the physical hardware itself. The board is clearly designed more for things like: IoT dashboards small graphical interfaces LVGL GUI projects Wi-Fi / Bluetooth devices For those kinds of projects it’s probably a great little board. Overall I’d say it’s a good development board for display or IoT projects, but if you’re specifically planning to build a USB HID keyboard device that also communicates over USB serial, be prepared for some extra work.
