Installation is as simple as plugging in the device and plugging your disposal into it. The remote is wireless and get this....never needs a battery! It's small and unobtrusive and mounts with double stick tape. I put mine on the tile back splash and it has worked perfectly. This stops working after a week or two, give or take. It’s not waterproof. It actually takes in a lot of water where the button is. This is my second unit after the first stopped working in exactly the same way. I will not ask for a replacement. After it stopped working, I unplugged the receiver and held the remote upside down, while pressing the button repeatedly. A lot of collected water came out! This is basically defective by design. The whole top of the unit should be a sealed membrane of sorts. Instead there is a round button with a gap for water to enter. If you stick it on a wall, perhaps it will last some time. If you like to have the button faced up, like me, your unit will likely fail after some normal use with wet hands. The product page says that this is waterproof and is OK to use with wet hands.
