I bought it for my FC Textline high-lighters, and it is perfect. I have also used it for regular pencils. It is really sharp, contained and I like it. It would probably depend on how soft the oil pastel pencils come, and if they are encased in wood or something else to give it a bit of structure. **Q: what size is the largest hole? Will it work for the large multi-colored pencils for kids? (@ 12 mm)** A: I hand measured it for you, using a compass as a second reference, and came up with about 6/16 of an inch on both measurements (which is 9.271 mm). If your pencil's diameter is 12mm it will not fit. **Q: How does this compare to the prismacolor premier dual sharpener? i'm debating between them; i mostly need it for my prisma soft cores and verithins.** A: I use it for some chunky highlighters, but it has two sizes. It works fine for regular pencils.
