However, the designers consumed the only two available hardware interrupt pins as outputs, which does not lend well to extending the product to communicate with other external hardware. For example, mine now respects a motion sensor and adjustable timing dials. But, without the interrupt pins I cannot power down the chip to save energy and wake on the next detected motion. Instead I wait in a delay loop and sample a non-interrupt pin.
