One side is wider than the other and I easily cut it more narrow so that it didn't overlap the countertops quite as much. My gap between the range and the countertop is very narrow, so the wide side wasn't necessary for me. Cuts easily with scissors but I would suggest a sharp box cutter with a straight edge as a guide. You can't even tell that the cropped edge isnt from the factory. They are also very easy to clean and the silicone slightly grips the range top and my Quartz countertops so they don't slide around much. These are nice and thick so it doesn't just protect the crack between the stove and counter it also extends the size of the cook top. When they get greasy I take them off and wash with soap. I bought a couple so I can change them out in case of damage or wear but I've had them near heat for a long time and no issue.
