Outstanding. Read It.
I tore through these books. I laughed out loud. I'm now a committed Joe Abercrombie fan for life. I won't try to do a book review here. I'm sure a lot of other people will, but I haven't got all day. Suffice it to say that Logan Ninefingers is now my favorite literary character and Red Country; which is a separate book from this trilogy; was my top read for 2022. You have to be realistic about these things ; read Joe Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy.

Action never stops.
Few authors can develop characters so well conceived and rounded. Even the villains are likeable. I hate the italic font in this publication, as the spacing is off making it (for me) a little difficult to enjoy. It's used often too.In all though, some of the best action fantasy I've ever read.

I prefer this edition
Firstly: this is not a review about the content of the book. There is a whole website devoted to book reviews to check for that. This is only about the physical book itself.I couldn’t really find any good comparisons between versions so I wanted to upload some comparison pics to help anyone debating between editions.I originally purchased the American edition (big white one) because I am assuming I’ll end up reading the entire series based on reviews. When it comes to all nine books in the series as a whole I like the artwork more than the British edition (this edition). But it’s just way too big for me. The huge size plus really white pages was just uncomfortable for me to look at for long periods. Giant (9.25in) paperbacks are becoming a trend that I really hate. This edition isn’t small though. The other one is just huge. I included a pic of it next to the G.O.T. mass paperback so you can see the size difference there as well.Paper quality, thickness, and texture is pretty much the same between both editions. The paper on this is less white, which I definitely prefer. It is whiter than the mass market though (I included a pic of it next to that too, it has page 406 on the mass market one top corner, the color accuracy is weird though and isn’t really representative of reality). They have a difference of only 10 pages while the mass market is 300 pages longer than them despite the comparable size (g.o.t. is 100,000 words longer). That inner cover with the author photo is just awful. I feel like it had to have been put there as a joke or a dare. I won’t say anything more about it. I prefer the plain inner cover of this edition.Spine: you can probably read the American edition with basically no spine wrinkles, while with this edition I almost thought the spine was broken the way it flopped open at certain points. The spine will probably have some good wrinkling after a read through no matter how careful you are. The glue on the spine is visibly thinner on this. I’ll update once I finish the first book (or sooner if any pages fall out, or if the spine on any of them actually is broken). I expect it to be fine though since this is the more popular edition amongst Abercrombie fans and I haven’t heard anyone complain.4 stars for quality now but it could go up or down depending on it’s condition after reading. The dimensions listed for both editions on here are pretty accurate so you can measure at home to compare size in person. Hope this helps someone.

Grim dark with a little humor
A good series worth reading if you are into grim dark fantasy. Although not as grim dark as one was lead to believe, but good. And a little humor which I enjoyed.
