I’ve had a standby generator for about 8 years and this is the second time the controller has failed on me. Hopefully this doesn’t keep happening.When I plugged things in it gave me the model ident error. After looking this up I found it was because I plugged the identifier resistor in last. I pulled power to the controller and plugged the identifier in first and the power last and it worked properly.Just happy it’s working now.

My house took a large power surge which blew a lot of my electronics out, including the original controller on my generator (as well as the ATS switch itself which we replaced separately). After we replaced the ATS, my generator wouldn't charge the battery anymore, and it would blow the small fuse in the automatic transfer switch as soon as the fuse in the generator itself was inserted/controller was activated. Went through several small fuses in the ATS when we finally figured out the controller in the generator (this unit) also needed to be replaced. This part was quick and easy to replace.
