Although, to the casual eye, all British tanks of World War I look much the same, the Mark V is quite outstanding and has a strong claim to be the tank that won the Great War. In this title, renowned tank expert David Fletcher examines the technological developments that made this tank excel where others had failed, and the reasons why it gave the British the upper hand over the Germans on the battlefield and why it was adopted by the US Tank Corps. Accompanied by detailed artwork showing the design changes that allowed the Mark V to breach the widest German trenches, this title is an excellent resource for the study of the armor of World War I. Review: Five Stars - Great book with awesome photos and diagrams! Review: A useful resource - A concise and useful overview of the British Mark V tank and its variants. I found it helpful for planning a scale model build. I would like to have seen it include interior photos from one of the remaining Mark Vs, such as the one at the Imperial War Museum. Overall, a good start point for learning about this pioneering armored vehicle.

Everything You Really Need to Know About the British Mark V Tank In One Easy to Read Source!
With so little written about tanks of the First world War this compact resource by noted expert David Fletcher fills in the blanks on this important step forward on British tank technology. It is easy to confuse the Mark IV and Mark V tanks; Mr. Fletcher makes the differences clear. With many good photos this book is a must for anyone interested in the tanks of WWI.

British Mark V tanks that once roamed Europe's WW1 Battlefields
This book is great. Lots of battlefield recounts, fighting strategies, construction details and some nice in-depth information about the operational workings of these beasts. And all the information is nicely backed up by a comprehensive range of photos and some detailed drawings. I would recommend to anyone that is interested in WW1 tanks. Charles TANKBOY Knight

Late and Post WWI Heavy tank
Fletcher does a good job of describing the development and deployment of the Mark V and the details that distinguish it from the earlier Marks. Color profiles show both British and American tanks. This is a great companion to the earlier books on the Mark I and Mark IV. I hope that Fletcher (or Zaloga) decide to author a book on the Whippet.

Another Winner
Superb follow-up to David's books on the Mark I and Mark IV tanks. Arrived this morning, read by this evening. As before, full of fascinating details, rare photos and great drawings. A real authority on the subject. If you're interested in WW1 tanks, buy without fear. David - when are you doing one on the Whippets??

Very informative
I bought this book for a modelling project I had in mind to mark the centenary of the first world war. I ended up modelling the mark IV as this was the most widely used tank but I was interested in the improvements made in the Mk V and it's variants.
