About how many husk are in your 1lb package?

I really can't say just how many are in the package. I do know that I made around 75 tamales and only used about 1/3 of the bag. The 1lb bag is about 5 inches high. As you know, some times you use 2 husks depending on the size to make your tamale. I would say most of the these are quite large and big enough to make a tamale with just one. I hope this help you!

Derived from living carbon based organism yes they are. Some random marketing criteria that have no basis on safety or nutrient content of food(hardly retentive in a wrapper) No. Don't worry they are safe to use, possibly safer then if they were grown with "organic" farming method and all the sources of bacterial, pesticide and herbicide contamination inherent in "organic" farming.

Are all of them the same size?

Not exactly but they are mostly the same size you can find a few larger and other smaller..
