Amazon Basics USB-Powered Computer Speakers with Volume Control for Desktop or Laptop PC, Compact Size, Headphone Jack, Portable, Plug-N-Play, Black

This is a "stripped down" very basic pair of speakers for your laptop, Chromebook or PC. For only $10.97 I did not expect much, but this is actually pretty good quality considering it cost a mere $10.97. These are ONLY for listening when you are sitting within 5-6 feet of your laptop, Chromebook or PC and NOT for listening on the opposite side of the room 20-30 feet away. No biggie - cos what do you expect for merely $10.97? It has a very simple volume control knob. A 3rd grade kid could figure out how to install these speakers. I didn't even need to read the instruction book! I just opened the box, pulled out the packaging and popped in the USB plug, the round, long prong and put it into the internal socket on my Chromebook. Then I quickly inserted the 3rd peripheral into my Chromebook plug, turned on the volume to full blast and BINGO! I had really clear volume instantly. Later on I read the warranty info and owners manual. Not much really to study since this is definitely "Bare Bones" "strippe down" very basic PC, laptop, Chromebook speakers. This is a sold, very low priced pair of speakers good for increasing the volume on your computer to listen to You Tube videos, streaming video. Let's face it - the speakers that come pre-installed on most Chromebooks, PC's and laptops are pretty weak. If you want louder quality audio - this is a pretty nifty "stripped down basic" pair of speakers for a rock bottom price. I was listening to a PBS streaming video documentary on Maria Callas - the late, great, brilliant opera diva from the 1950's - 1960's and the sound quality of Maria Callas operatic solos was crystal clear. I could also clearly hear the symphony orchestra in the background accompanying Maria Callas in her world class tour de force performance at La Scala in Italy and the Met Opera way back in the late 1950's - early 1960's. If you are on a really tight budget and want to oomph up the audio volume on your laptop, PC or Chromebook you get a LOT of "bang for your buck". Don't expect any fancy "Bells and Whistles". There is a basic, simple audio volume control knob on one of the speakers - but it does the job! I highly recommend it! IT was quite well packaged with a LOT of durable protective cardboard packaging inside specifically designed to cushion both speakers. I just wish Amazon would GET THERE ACT TOGETHER AND FOR GOODNESS SAKE STOP INCLUDING THE TOTALLY UNECCESSARY PLASTIC BAG that cannot be recycled. Amazon brags TOO MUCH about being so-called "Green" and environmentally friendly but that is NOT TRUE! The box the speakers came in was MORE than sufficient for the packaging. Amazon shipped this direct from their warehouse and insisted on including a COMPLETELY UNCESSESSARY PLASTIC BAG that cannot be recycled and will wind up in the ocean's Plastic Gyre or toxic dump landfill. AMAZON GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER and eliminate completely uncessary plastic bag packaging! Also for goodness sake ELIMINATE that darn bubble wrap plastic cushioning. These speakers came in a very sturdy box from the factory that already included a very durable specially molded cardboard cushioning object that was quite sturdy THE PLASTIC BAG THAT CANNOT BE RECYCLED WAS 100% UNCESSESSARY. I decided awhile ago to ORDER LESS FROM AMAZON because they allege they are "Green" but their packaging is excessive - too much plastic and bad for the environment!

Meets expectations, simple computer speakers, clear enough and loud enough. Can’t beat them for the price

I have these speakers and the previous Amazon USB powered speakers. The only difference is the new ones have a earphone jack and a annoying BRIGHT blue LED power indicator. Needed three red 3/4" dots over the blue power LED to get the LED brightness down to a level that is good for a dim lite room. The speakers will emit a low hum if there is no input and the speaker volume is set above mid range. Set the computer volume output to near max and the speaker volume to mid range is a good comprimise that seems to get rid of the hum. I use this with a laptop and is does a good job to give decent sound. Don't expect stereo music quality, it is not there. The bass is non existent and the high frequency is muted. Sounds in the mid frequency range are decent. Rating: Overall a good buy for viewing videos, and gaming on a laptop.

I initially bout some speakers from Walmart for $13 ish, and the sound quality was terrible. I wasn’t expecting anything crazy, but they were bad enough to return them. I ordered these, and I was worried they might be the same — I was wrong! The quality is 3x better than the similarly priced speakers from Walmart. I just needed some plain old speakers to play the sims, and these give me exactly that.

Keep in mind I bought these as used but "like new". One pair came and worked fantastic. So well I bought another pair for my laptop at work. The second pair came broken, ever so slightly. There was a rattle sound coming from one of the speakers. Seeing as it was only 10$ for me, I figured it was more work to return the product than it would be worth in time so I decided to disassemble the speaker to see what was wrong. It was a manufacturing issue with the connection between the speaker and sound pad. I isolated the source of the problem and the only solution was to stick a paperclip in to stabilize one area of the speaker. That eliminated the rattle but reduced the total sound output so now the stereo function comes out a bit weird. Obviously this shouldn't be required from any product, but I guess that's the risk of buying something that was used and returned. It was likely returned for a reason. Shame on Amazon for letting this go back out to sale. That's another QC strike against Amazon in my books.

These Amazon Basics USB-powered speakers are a great value for the price. Setup was truly plug and play just connect the USB and audio cable and they’re ready to go. The sound quality is clear with decent volume for everyday use like videos, music, and virtual meetings. I really like the built-in volume control, which makes adjustments quick and easy and has awesome range. They’re compact, lightweight, and don’t take up much desk space. Perfect for a desktop or laptop if you want simple, reliable speakers without spending a lot. Perfect compatibility.

SOUND QUALITY: I didn't expect amazing sound, but I expected SOME sound quality. These sound like I bought them from the dollar store. It's so bad that it's literally irritating. It sounds like a cheap children's toy would sound. My MacBook (that I bought these speakers for) sounds way better than these speakers. If your monitor has speakers, it probably sounds better than these. CORD LENGTH: These don't work with my ultrawide monitor setup because the cord that connects the two speakers aren't long enough to reach both sides of my monitor. CONNECTION: These speakers require that you plug in both a USB cord AND an aux cord into your computer, which is annoying for me. Maybe you won't care. But for the terrible children's toy sound that comes out of these speakers, they could've probably just used one cord to provide power and sound. VALUE: Years ago I bought a random brand $20 pair of speakers off Amazon... I used them for years and they sounded WAY better than these. No way these are worth $20. I already threw away the box for these speakers, assuming they would be good enough. So I'll just be throwing these speakers in the trash and cutting my losses.

The sound quality is not that great, especially compared to the oval shaped Amazon brand speakers, the ones without the bluetooth. These just sound like generic cheap speakers. Also they don't get very loud, even when you turn the volume know all the way. In fact, there's isn't much difference between it's min and max volume level. It varies more based on how you control the volume from your computer. Still, the max volume isn't that high and the sound quality is average or mediocre.

Like the title says, these are relatively cheap, but the audio is good. It can't get super loud so you can't blast music from them. But for gaming it's a good cheap choice

Great sound quality Stock they are really quiet in a loud/large environment if you plug in a headphone pre amp in line with the speakers however they can go really loud with no distortion. Quite impressed once this is done For bedroom/office use they are more than loud enough stock
