Does this kill fungus gnats that have infested the soil of my indoor plants?

Thank you for your recent query about the control of fungus gnats with Houseplant Bug Killer

Fungus gnat larvae feed on the fungus that grows in the top layer of peat based composts and can be prevalent in indoor plants.

This is not the case with fungus gnats and in fact,  the gnats and larvae do not  harm the plant  (though they are unsightly)

I would recommend the following courses of action :-

If you wish to control the gnat itself then consider using an insect spray such as Kybosh,  much as you would treat flying insects in your house.  I have attached a copy of the label for your perusal
    To stop the larvae from developing in the compost  :-

Water your plants from the base of the plant so that the top of the compost remains dry.  This will discourage the fungus and so stop the larvae
    Apply a decorative aggregate such as gravel to the top of your pots to a depth of 1cm.  This will stop the gnats from laying eggs in the compost as the gravel will stop them reaching it.

Question 2

Will this work on white tiny flies on my plants? They mainly sit on the soil. If not, then how to get rid? :(

In response,  it is unlikely that this will control your problem.  The adult flies that you have reported on the foliage and on the surface of the compost are regarded as a nuisance pest rather than a plant pest.  These Sciarid Flies do not eat or feed on the plant itself but fly around the plant and its compost.  The tiny white thread like larvae of these flies reside in the top layer of the plant compost and it is this compost that the larvae feed on.

If these pests are becoming very irritating then all I can suggest is that you replace the compost and perhaps put a layer of fine horticultural grit on the surface of the replaced compost to deter the female flies from laying her eggs, and try if possible to keep the plant on the dry side as these sciarid flies prefer moist soil conditions.
