Replaced a single core 800 Mhz Celeron processor
Quick delivery, easy installation (came with thermal paste packet), and delivering every bit of the performance that I hoped it would deliver.

Performance about 15% better on the processor side
Picked up used for less than 15 bucks. Upgraded an old E5700 to this processor for an HTPC. Performance about 15% better on the processor side, a couple frames in some games (though not noticeable in some), and 1080p video is the same. This rig is at the end of its life, just trying to stretch it for another year before upgrading to a 4k HTPC.

Intel C2D E-8600: Good processor upgrade for older PCs
The E-8600 is part of the last iteration of C2D processors before the Core i type of processors were launched. It is also the faster dual core processor of that type at 3.33GHz. Great improvement over Pentium 4/D processors (Note that it shares the same socket, LGA 775, with some of those older processors but, generally, it is not compatible with older chipsets for Pentium-4/D processors). Paired with an entry level GT 1030 video-card there is sufficient computing power for everyday tasks (web browsing, mail, spreadsheets, video-playback, etc.) on a Linux Ubuntu machine. Very affordable if purchased used - 5 star.

Cheap Upgrade
A worthwhile upgrade from a Celeron E3300. Has been running great for about 2 months now. For $20 why not have the fastest dual core ever made for Socket 775? Windows Experience Processor score went from 5.9-6.7. Also, I probably would have went with a Core 2 Quad but was not sure about compatibility with the chipset I had (G41 Express). This seemed like a safe bet, and was worth it.

CRUNCHING THE NUMBERS
It works as its specs state. Works good for basic Word/Excel, but not for video/games.
