I am an elementary teacher (5th grade), and I use money as my behavior system. All the students have a job and get paid on the 15th and 30th. They get fines for not doing homework or not being prepared. They earn money for reaching goals and good grades. On the 30th, they pay "rent" for their desk. They love having the money in their hands, it teaches them how to count and organize money and I even have them use a check register to write out withdrawals and deposits. Parents love this system, though I fear this is a skill these kiddoes will never use. Either way they love it. Definitely realistic enough.

It’s a great way to start kids with managing finances. Instead of just buying my child something, she works for it. Depends on how much she “works” she earns. Then she hands them back at the stores when she wants to buy something. If I spent $20 on something she wanted but was not a need, she gives me $20 It’s a great way to also motivate her into doing her own chores (work) till they become a habit and she starts doing them without expecting anything in return. So, good grades, accountability, and responsibility can help her earn money, as well.

We have found them to be the perfect way to demonstrate how to earn an allowance through chores and responsibility, as well as how to set money aside for bills and obligations. By using money that looks and feels like the real thing, it brings a sense of seriousness and excitement to their learning, helping them understand that "the soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat" (Proverbs 13:4). In our home, we believe in the importance of teaching our children to be good stewards of what they are given from a young age. These play bills allow us to create a hands-on experience where they can practice tithing, saving, and spending wisely before they handle real currency. It is a wonderful provision for any parent looking to instill a strong work ethic and a heart of gratitude in their kids, ensuring they grow up understanding that every blessing comes from above and should be managed with care.
