Totally Helpful
After playing guitar for many years, I wanted to learn bass to better understand the fretboard and the relationship of notes and scales that lie at the foundation of music. This book was a great choice. It's helping me make sense of things I'm used to playing but have never quite understood musically. The lessons are grouped by music genres, so you get a feel for different styles of playing. And the authors comment's and guidance for each exercise are helpful and practical for developing good technique. A CD is included, and tab, yay!

Good Starting Point
Although I am not musically trained, I did learn by ear growing up. This book helps to connect the dots for me between guitar playing and now bass playing.

I like the design well put out and thought but I have a problem l don't have the internet on pc I'm still getting use to my phone and can't hear example's on phone for some reason so I thought it would come on cd but don't know how to know if I have got it right or not so for now I play by ear if possible.

Not for beginner back tracking too fast .. you get lost and lost interest very quick . Maybe this is for advance not even intermediate

I think this is probably geared more toward intermediate players, but is not totally impossible for beginners. I only have about 4 months of practice under my belt, and am very slowly working my way through this. It provides good, musical exercises that train your desterity and mind, and that also provide building blocks for riffing and writing, as well as a bit of theory. Once memorized, the exercises also provide a really good warm-up for practice that takes you up and down the fretboard. If you are a beginner, you will really go slowly, but your speed and accuracy will improve, and with them, your confidence. If you have seen any of Dan’s videos on YouTube, you will recognize and appreciate his sincerity and focus on musicality in this book. I also appreciate the fact that the exercises are written in both tabulature and musical staffing. If there is one thing that I wish was included, it would be titles for the various exercises, but this is a small thing.

I'm happy that I found this guy at YouTube and ordered this book. Great exercises for bass guitar for mid level and higher students. There are tab versions of all of the exercises for the beginners as well.
