Works perfectly
After I changed out my mixer valve for a leak, I found I would only either get completely cold or completely hot water. the solution was to change out the old pressure balancing unit to this one. Once again, a very easy install that solved my problem. Now my leak is fixed and I have great control of water temperature. All without paying for a plumber.

Relatively easy install and excellent result
After watching a couple of YouTube videos, I found it easy to install the part. My "hot water only" problem went away. I wish I had considered contacting Kohler first because they're really good about sending free parts under their excellent warrant. I solved a minor drip with a warranty part. The videos don't always mention this step, but I chose to use a little plumber's silicone lube on the O-rings. I did see it in the written instructions from Kohler.

Works Well After Lengthy Install
This replacement part works well . The installation took some time as the disassembly of the faucet was the trickiest part. Had to do a bit of research to find out how to remove the various trim and covers for my model without breaking them. But once you understand the steps, the overall task is very doable for most home owners. So far, the hot and cold water is coming out very balanced and the faucet is very responsive again.

Hope this cartridge holds up better than the old model
I am being optimistic and giving this one 4 stars. I have gone through 2 of the old model pressure balancing cartridge and each only lasted 2-3 years before it started to be impossible to regulate the temperature and the handle was harder to turn. I have never had any leaks that I have seen others report (knock on wood). This cartridge installed as easy or easier than the older model and it fixed the temperature issue immediately and seems to have more pressure. I really just hope this newer model will last longer than the old model. I feel disappointed that a Kohler product is not longer lasting, but thankful it is not too expensive or hard to replace. I am very glad that I opted to get the model of valve (that this cartride is installed into) with integrated water supply shut offs so i have not ever has to shut off the water to the entire house to replace the cartridge. I do want to note that this cartridge did NOT come with the silicone lubricant that it was supposed to and was referenced in the install videos. May just have been left out on my package, but it was factory sealed and intact. Luckily I had some silicon lubricant on hand used for pool o-rings that should be the same stuff and it worked great. Also, a helpful tip that I saw online is to use a paper plate placed under the valve when removing the front of it to divert the water left in the valve or shower pipe so it runs out into the shower or tub instead of potentially down the wall. This worked great for me and not a drop went inside the wall cavity. I saw this suggestion on youtube back when replacing the first valve and it has worked great each time.

It may take a few times before it stops leaking.
This insert I had to play around with two or three times for it to finally stop leaking, but it did work. The product is good. But you might have to get longer screws. Grease the gaskets.

Long lasting, and easy to replace!
I've had this installed for around two years already to replace a failing one, it's a pretty easy job to do with minimal tools required. You just need a screw driver, maybe a wrench depending on your setup, and some plumber's tape to be on the safe side. I found it to be cheaper on Amazon versus a big box store and you're getting a genuine part.

Recommend as replacement cartridge
Would definitely recommend as a replacement Kohler cartridge for a shower valve. After moving into our house we found the shower would only ever run scolding hot. We had to set the temperature via the water boiler. After doing some investigation it appeared the old Kohler cartridge was faulty or corroded and cold water wasn't getting through. I purchased this cartridge along with a new mixer cap (Kohler K-GP77759), and fitted it in about 20 minutes (it was harder and took longer to get the old cartridge out, due to the lime scale build up). After turning the water back on and testing, the flow of cold water was back to normal, and we could control the temperature via the shower handle as normal.

Fixes Leaky Shower Head
I, as many other have, bought the GP77759 first in hopes it would stop the leak. It did not. I cleaned the brass mating surface in the back of the housing with scotchbrite and some 1200 grit wet sandpaper. Still dripped. So I broke down and bought this unit to replace the GP500520 that came with the unit. That fixed my leak. The 800820 is a direct drop in replacement for the 500520. Glad I did not have to cut into the sheetrock or trey to remove some tiles. Shouldn't the tiles adjacent to the shower control be in some form of removable housing/fixture...... that would make too much sense.

Count on Amazon to have parts that would be difficult to find stocked locally in the usual retail outlets. Choice, Prices, delivery make it the number 1 go to retailer for a long time now

It took me a month to install this product. Although I watched how to do it in Youtube, at first, I was still hesitant to install it because, I thought it would be complicated... I almost called a plumber. But it was a very simple installation.... I even learned to assemble and disassemble this product, using the old one that I replaced. As a matter of fact, the old one was not really broken... the leaking was caused by the displacement of the washer for the cold water and for the hot water not coming out all the time, it was the spring that was displaced. I cleaned the whole unit, greased the springs and washers and it's all good !! But of course, I am now using the new one. But this item... I think it is over-priced !!

The shower faucet has been in use for about 20 years and became either all hot or all cold and jumped between when I tried to adjust. A youtube on a plumber website gave the part numbers for the internal bits and help on how to get the faucet apart. I found the parts on amazon and changed both the cap and pressure balancer at the same time. As described on the plumber site, this cap is different from the original. The hardest part of the installation was finding how the middle piece of the faucet is removed. It is just done by finger pressure. Put fingers on the middle part and turn it slightly. It just comes out. The pressure balancer looks different, but Kohler seems to give it the same part number. It all fit and was not that difficult. The shower is useful again. I only give it 4 starts because I do not think that it works like new. After I set a temperature and then get in the shower it makes changes as if it had a very slow lag. It is quite repeatable so I can wait longer for it to stabilize.
