Seco-Larm E-941SA-600 Enforcer Electromagnetic Lock with 600 Pound Holding Force

Mag Lock works like it should. These are great items when doing security installs or upgrades.

The lock itself is GREAT... we use it on our double storm doors to our Glass Shop. That being said, be aware that the manufacturer sort of "forgets" to tell you what else is need to set it up... like a POWER SOURCE & the one we finally found recommended has to be adapted to use it for this lock. Secondly, if you don't want to be constantly plugging & unplugging it, you will need a "switch".... & not the one shown that says "OPEN" which will only work the brief time you are touching it. We finally put an in line toggle switch at a comfortable height & now WE LOVE IT! We turn it on at night & off during the day.... Note, the power source will need the "plug end" removed, determine the polarity & solder the wires into the locking mechanism.

Suitability for replacement & Value for Money.

Currently using this as part of a little project to make a timed lock using an Arduino.The magnet is running off a 12v 2A power supply controlled by a TIP122 on the negative side. It holds solidly, definitely can't pry it apart with my hands. I may not have tested it with a winch and a force gauge, but I'm convinced you couldn't get the plate off without using some tools. I was concerned you might be able to slide the plate off laterally, but the plate won't budge once the unit is on, so that's a plus if you're using this for unintended solutions not involving a door.There is a little residual magnetism left over after the unit disengages, but that's normal and it's not strong.I tested it over one hour powered on. The unit got a little warm but not hot, and stayed under 100 degrees. If you had this hooked up to a door, or some other large object which would act as a heatsink, I don't think you'd have a problem with it getting too hot and burning anything up, and you shouldn't have any problem even if it isn't attached to something large.Overall I think this was a good buy.

Easy, straightforward install. All of the mounting hardware is included, be sure you have a hammer for installing the guide pins in the plate that goes on the door. Excellent holding force as well. A much easier solution than electric strikes for access control systems!

This unit works perfect. Now my church's office is secure

Our previous mag lock lasted 5 years, so I replaced it with the exact same model to make for an easy install. The price was cheap which is important. It's been about 4 months since I installed it and it still works.

Good design and works well.We've noted it gets a bit warm, but no so much as to suggest an "issue." (We're using it on 12V.)Recommended!
