The StarTech.com 5in Micro USB to USB OTG Host Adapter - Micro USB Male to USB A Female On-The-GO Host Cable Adapter (that's a mouthful) functioned perfectly with my Dell Venue 8 Pro and my flash drive so that I was able to transfer music, image and program files I had downloaded onto the flash drive to my tablet in a few seconds. I also easily managed to specify that the files be transferred to my external SD card so the adapter and the Windows 8.1 OS worked perfectly together. I have not used it with my Android tablets as of yet so I cannot state how well it will function with KitKat and Lollipop. But since I bought it mainly to use with my Windows tablet I am completely satisfied. It seems well made and for $4.99 it's a handy little tool.

I bought this to update a Phantom 4 Pro firmware with my iPad Mini 5. It worked perfectly. However, I'm only giving it 4 stars because the adapter is unnecessarily difficult to separate from the USB-to-Lightning cable. No problems connecting my cable to anything else, but with this adapter, it holds on like its life depends on it.

I've had my fair share of screwed up cables I've bought on amazon lately for otg. This one however was a dream come true. Durable little cable. Didn't fall apart, and I put it through a lot of stress, plugging and un-plugging devices regularly. Hasn't let me down yet. I originally bought it to for my Google Nexus 7 as extension with my thumb drive for pictures and movies. Works wonderfully. I would recommend doing some research though before you settle with another cable, as I've used about 4 different models. all from different sellers, and i can't guarantee that this cable is durable for everyday usage, not to mention small enough to put in the tablet case without being too bulky and the possibility of scratching the screen. I gave this 5 stars cause it did EXACTLY what the advertisement stated. I didn't have to contact the sellers because it worked right out of the package! As I mentioned before, do some research. Not always, does cheap mean; cheaply built. This cable is cheap, yet does exactly what it's intended to do, and durable enough to handle the plug and re-plugging of devices to your device.

I tried another brand of cable and actually it had the ends I was searching for on both ends. It did not work at all. i bought two of them in case that might happen adn gues what, the other didn't work either. I subsequently bought two of these to join two different cables to connect my Camera with my Tablet. It works GREAT. There is an app which allows you to use your Canon Camera with any Android Tablet and use it as a Monitor with full remote functions. I have a 10 Monitor already , but this will now allow me to use the Samsung 10.3 with my Canon Camera! The Samsund is so light that I can mount it on top of my Camera, if I like. I have it attached to my Tripod anyway. It is GREAT. I am older athan I wish I were and can't see as clearly as I want to either. My viewfinder is now 10 plpus inches across! What's not to like about that? I only with that Apple would do the same with their iPod. I can recoment this adapter to anyone because I know it works.

Saved my ASUS M80TA after a failed Windows 10 install. The ASUS M80TA is a great tablet with terrible service. They included a SD card for restoring your tablet to the original Windows 8 that came with the system. The only problem is, you need to reinstall from the Micro-USB port. So, I purchased the Star Tech Micro USB OTG cable and connected a Windows 10 bootable USB drive. Within minutes my seemingly bricked ASUS came back to life. This cable was inexpensive and worked like a charm. If you have ANY tablet with only a Micro-USB port, I highly recommend you purchase one of these to access ANY USB device. Would I buy one again? Sure did, I purchased some for family members. I was able to backup my tablet to an external USB hard drive.

When I put the cord into the phone it was tight, a nexus 5, and it wasn't because of the usb itself. It was the prongs at the top that don't hardly go down at all. I pushed them down with my hand and t was extremely hard. The cord worked perfectly, and looks great, especially for the price. I don't know it was just mine that seemed that way and maybe it was supposed to be that way so it is secure, but I feel it didn't need to be that hard. I got a small external drive to work off of this cord and in a hub that plugged solely into the phone I got another usb to and couldn't try more. The largest amount of things I could try was a keyboard, mouse, usb drive, and the small external drive. That was because that was the most allowed by the hub. So for anybody looking to use this with a nexus 5 make sure you have supersu(root) and stickmount installed. Overall a great product.

While this product hosts usb otg well, it does not output enough power for things like hard drives. However, That is most likely only due to the device not being made to put power through the micro usb. For my Dell Venue 8 Pro, I decided to go with a Y adapter similar to this that provided power to the device and that worked for my external hard drive. Unfortunately, since there is only one port for usb and for charging, It remained impossible to charge while using the device. I recommend finding a cable that charges while hosting usb otg. I haven't purchased one yet, but I plan to soon.
