Incredible
I bought this because I didn't think that over-clock capability was worth the $40. As my first build, I want the very best i7 processor that I could buy aghast was non-k. Plus, I like tsx and run virtual machines, so the crippled K version wasn't really going to do me well. Upon using it, it's great. I upgraded from an i5-460m (laptop) to an i7-4770 (desktop build) and I can not describe the difference and speed. I edit videos heavily, and this is such a huge upgrade. I'm also a hardcore gamer and I wanted great performance for under or at 300. This is the best bang for your buck at this range. I've done builds for friends with the AMD FX-8350 and let me tell you, while the 8350 is a great 8 core processor, it's 8 physical cores can't even begin to match the i7's 8 logical cores. (4 logical 4 physical). I ran a minute segment of video more than three times as fast as my i5-460m did. Freezing and choppiness is a thing of the past, and when I want to save power, I can switch off my radeon 7950 and use the 4770 graphics (which are about 20 frames per second away from matching one of the industry's high end graphics cards, the 7950 I might add). Also, turbo boost can overclock to 3.9 ghz which is a nice little 500MHz increase, as long as temps are low. I was going to buy an h100i but I decided to try out the stock cooler to see how it is, and it keeps it very cool, so I'm sticking with it. In benchmarks, the 4770 outdoes the 4770k at stock speeds, even though the k has a 100mhz lead

It's exactly what the picture shows.
I definitely recommend getting this if you are on a Intel Core i5 4570 CPU with 4 cores 4 threads. That's where I was. Wasn't sure if I would need a update for the BIOS to use this i7. The i7 comes with 4 cores 8 threads. And as I found out you do not. It was easy to instantly swap to this i7 and turn the computer back on. Also the computer I'm using is a cheap ABYS pre-built computer but had to upgrade because of the garbage CPU it had before. It's using a Intel h81 haswell board. But now it runs a lot better. I'd pick this up. And in terms of cooling it's like any other CPU it's 84 Watts it's going to be about the same as the previous CPU that you upgrade from. You're just going to get better performance.

Love the CPU, but Hate the Heat Sink/Fan Fasteners
I chose this in my first custom PC build. Along with the other components, it's predictably blisteringly fast. FYI: THERMAL COMPOUND IS PRE-APPLIED to the copper contact surface on the heat sink/fan. It is comprised of three very neat groups that don't look like "goo." CPU temp idles in the low 30s. The four push-through pin design to secure the heat sink/fan assembly to the motherboard is crap ... if you ever need to remove the heat sink/fan assembly. I'll never push the CPU to need a different cooling solution, and I want the 3-year warranty but ... s*** happens. The Asus motherboard had a defective PCIE expansion slot, requiring moving the CPU to the replacement motherboard. Removing the heat sink/fan assembly became a nightmare as one pin assembly was defective and would not reset after extensive time and effort. Tried everything imaginable on top and on back side of motherboard. The forces required to extract the last pin were approaching scary. My bad luck. Finally, got it off and CPU assembly on the new motherboard, but taking this up now with Intel. Grrrr FYI: Thermal compound thickness in a replacement scenario like this was important. I didn't have replacement Intel compound, but had Arctic Silver. I used a bit too much on the first replacement install. Upon start-up, CPU temps were idling in the mid-40s rather than lower 30s as they were on initial installation. I went back in and thinned out the layer of compound using the edge of a business card. Upon reinstallation and start-up, CPU idle temps back in the lower 30s. FWIW. :-)

Very pleased with the processor and the supplied cooling fan
Purchased this processor as the heart of a new desktop build to replace a very ancient 8-year old computer. After viewing some YouTube how-to clips, I found the chip and supplied fan were simple to install. I now have several months of regular usage. Since this processor cannot be overclocked, the fan keeps the temperature safely within limits (no need to buy a special cooler, unless you just want to impress your friends). I do image editing, but not video editing or gaming, so I had no need to add on a separate power-hogging graphics card as the on-board graphics works well enough for me. My total system power consumption is in the range of 120 watts and have not had any issues with reliability. I do recommend this Intel i7-4770 chip, but get its sibling chip if you want to over-clock.

A must for LGA1366 users
If you're in the market for an upgrade from an LGA1366 system or i7 1st generation, this is the upgrade for you. I use my system for some lite gaming, but heavy 1080P AVCHD video editing. The new processor has drastically decreased the time I spend in front of the computer editing and waiting for render work to complete as I work on a video project. I read many reviews on this before buying it, many reviews did not recommend the upgrade for current Ivy Bridge users or even Sandy. I did read other reviews saying this was a major improvement for 1st Gen. Paired this with a ASRock extreme6 and EVGA GTX 570 with 16GB of RAM and I've got a great system now. I recommend the Corsair H60 cooler available here on Amazon. It keeps the processor at idle around 36C well below the standards out there. I went with the 4770 instead of the 4770k since I do not overclock and this version of the processor has additional instructions included that from what I read, assist or will assist with video editing. So far nothing I've worked on has slowed it down, even if I keep browsing internet as a video is rendering, no issues.

Runs cool for me
Read a lot of reviews about the new Haswells running hot at factory setting. This is obviously not an OC version but it runs very cool for me even under long periods of major load (Arma 2, 3dMark, BF3, etc). I average around 55 degree Celsius under long term loads (i.e. 1900X1080 with ultra settings or extreme benchmarking config) with my Noctua CPU heatsink/ fan. Honestly, this rig is every bit as fast (if not slightly fast than my previous 2600K setup running 6870's in Crossfire. I built this system for the purpose of solid performance but without significant heat and I think I managed to achieve that - although running a single graphics cards may have more to do with it. Most stable, quiet, cool, and solid performing bang for the buck yet (and this is my 8th or 9th build)... Side note - I have become a Gigabyte convert over the last 3 builds (Ivy Bridge and Haswell). The reliability in terms of hardware and OS performance has been superior to my previous Asus builds especially in areas like power management. Not that I had bad experiences with Asus, but there were flaky things that I don't run into with the Gigabyte boards recently. Also the PCH and USB controllers run cooler (but that comparison is only fair for the Ivy Bridge series due to the changes in Haswell chipset architecture). another i7 from intel
I dont overclock, so the i7 4770 is perfect. It works out of the box, installation was pretty easy. I do suggest an aftermarket cooler (obviously your buying an i7, so its worth it) I used the stock one for a couple days until my new one arrived, and it is noticeably loud, but temps did stay between 30c and 55c after a lengthy gaming session. with my new coolermaster 212 plus, its 25-45c :) I didn't use the onboard video after just making sure everthing posted, but it apparently works, and thats really all I'll ever have to do with it. I also do alot of 3d modeling (maya zbrush, etc) and without paying more than 500 dollars for the cpu, this is as good as it gets. If you dont do some kind of media editing, or heavy duty processing, you probably wont notice the extra power of the i7 over an i5. If your looking to build your own workstation just for modeling and have the money, I'd highly suggest an lga 2011 build, for the extra ram you can cram in. Great Processsor.
This processor installed very easy. Powered up on first try. And runs incredibly fast and is very efficient. I mated this with a new 1150 motherboard (Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD5H) and a new power supply (Corsair Professional Series HX 750 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold) tested with this chip. After the set time frame the whole system will hibernate and become silent. When I want to start using the computer. It wakes instantaneously and I am ready to go. The only negative I see, is that the instruction manual could be better. It is not very descriptive. It does direct you to a website for installation instruction.

Ich betreibe den Prozessor mit einem ASUS 85M-G und hatte vorher (als allererstes) einen Intel Celeron E3300, bin dann umgestiegen auf einen AMD FX-4300, was trotz keiner Übertaktung schon Unterschied genug ist. Aber jetzt hab ich mir den i7 4770 geholt und bin einfach beeindruckt. Leider kann ich nichts über die Grafik sagen, weil ich extern eine GTX750Ti benutze (jetzt nicht das Spitzenmodell) aber so ist mein System einfach gefühlte 10x performanter! Ich kann jedem diese CPU ans Herz legen. Obwohl ich eigentlich kaum Ahnung von Computern habe, habe ich es innerhalb von 30 min geschafft, alles umzubauen. Wie gesagt, einfach unschlagbar von der Leistung her. Kein K-Modell weil ich keine Intel-CPUs übertakten will. Viele haben mir gesagt ich soll sparen und mir einem XEON holen, war mir egal, denn wenn die Grafikkarte dann doch mal kaputtgeht, ist... sie kaputt, ja. Eine Sache allerdings hätte ich zu bemängeln, mal ganz davon abgesehen dass sich dieses Modell auf bis zu 800mHz runtertakten kann, wenn es keine besonderen Aufgaben zu erledigen hat: Das wäre die Temperatur. Bei 100% Last komme ich manchmal über die Grenze von 72,72 Grad (nachzulesen auf der Intelseite), wozu ich gezwungen war, mir einen fetten Kühlkörper zuzulegen. Dennoch zusammengefasst einfach ein wahnsinnig fetter Umstieg und für den Preis auf keinen Fall nutzlos!

Band for bucks and best in class performance
Amazon Service : Pretty good. Overall the service was satisfactory. Price,offered, was best in the market. Processor: Compared to Previous Gen ivybridge processors, these ones has 10~20% performance increase. but comes with comparatively higher heat output. I am using a Swiftech H320 to cool the cpu even then it reaches 48~49C when in load , compared to old ivybridge without built in voltage regulator , its 2~3C higher . About performance . I have yet to see a single player rpg which can cap the cpu on single logical thread. For heavy duty works like, CAD/CAM emulations and problem solving, it pays of . Comparing to AMD - The FX series 8 cores are cheap compared to these but they have comparatively much more power hungry and more heat dissipation due to that . Performance wise, i7 477x will beat the crap out of them if you dont mind paying a few bucks more. In the long run if you are going to use your processor 10~16 hrs a day ,the electricity bill will compensate the price you will pay extra , otherwise dont buy these, buy an i5 or amd fx. These are only meant for most power hungry applications . Over all very satisfactory result , and recommended product(or similar Intel ones like 4771) at this price range.
