Baby Chick Waterer Base - Little Giant - Metal Waterer Base Jar, 1 Quart (Item No. 9826)

This works great for baby chickens, it’s a bit small for adults. Sturdier than the plastic alternatives, also happy no plastic. You screw a mason jar on the top and full with water. The water area is bigger than the plastic ones which is great since the chicks get it dirty. And it’s not deep enough to cause any problems.

Great waterer for the first few weeks!Great for new chicks! When they are bigger they love throwing pine chips in it and its annoying to clean it out.

These work great but the baby birds perch on top of the jar and take a load off in the water. Also have had them knock the water over because the base is too small.Would be great if they made a cone of some kind to sit on top of the bottle to keep the birds off.

I use this for my chicks. I had a glass hummingbird feeder that had a metal base. After awhile, the base corroded so I decided to use the jar for a waterer! It works great and had a hanger.

I prefer these metal feeders and waterere over the the plastic ones for looks and durability. I normally buy these in the store, but they were out the last couple times I went. I've bought these many times and they fit with any MASON/BALL jars. As long as the jar has a standard opening. Obviously they don't work with like spaghetti jars or such unless they have the tradition Mason jar top. These are the perfect size for 1-12 chicks or a decent amount of Coturnix Quail depending on what size jar you put on them. These last forever if you don't leave them outside to rust.

We have several plastic water and feeders and I am so glad we got these. It holds a regular mouth mason jar and cleaning in both is so easy and they don’t wear out like the plastic ones. When the chickens and turkeys peck the plastic it scratches them and that holds bacteria so I have to replace the plastic ones every few months. These I have a bucket of food grade cleaner and water I soak the metal for an hour then rinse and air dry and I run the e jars on high heat in the dishwasher and no issues!!

This chick waterer works ok but the jar doesn't screw on tightly to the base so you have to be careful not to have it come off when you turn it over. Otherwise it's nice.

Works great - however it is very lose. I could have hoped it twisted on or something. It is good for chicks but not as they get older as they will be able to easily knock it over.

Nice east and will work great for smaller birds

These galvanized waterers are perfect for chicks! I've used the red plastic ones in the past and they get stuck on the jar and frequently crack. These galvanized ones attach and remove very easily, never get stuck, and obviously never break. I'll definitely be buying a few more of these!
