Cool looks, ok functionality
The concept is nice, but the execution is slightly off. The reading will bounce around a bit at random times, sometimes through both positive and negative territory, for no apparent reason. When it calms down, it seems to work great. There is a slight delay in updating the reading, perhaps because the base updates the display only 1-2 times per second, but the sensitivity is good. You can usually measure 1g items and always 2g items. One concern I have about longevity is that the surface plastic seems a bit soft, so I imagine the window in the centre becomes scratched and clouded over time, which makes the clock idea not so cool.

Fantastic scale! Be aware the batteries are from 2010 or earlier--just throw them away.
We love this scale--the one we bought in the 2000's still works, but when we took it off the wall during a kitchen remodel, we wondered how long it would last, and were happy to find it still for sale. We bought a new one and have retired the old one to act as a spare. Both are pictured--the new one is on the right. The only (minor) problem with the old one is that one of the plastic clips on the scale half that snaps into the detent ring on the display half has broken (likely when it was packed up for a move, years ago). The base still hangs on the wall just fine, but no longer clicks into place. The scale has an outer range limit of about four feet, so it probably won't work on a kitchen island. The IR bounces off nearby counters/objects, so you can put larger objects on the scale--like a plastic cutting board--that obscure the emitter, and still get a reading on the display. It's very easy to tare and switch between grams and ounces, which is handy since a lot of baking recipes use grams. Being able to store it off the counter, but right in reach is the best part of the two-piece design. One note: this is a discontinued scale, and the batteries that come with it have been sitting in the box for a decade. The batteries that just came with ours showed an expiration date of 07-2010, and were quite corroded. Fortunately they are packed separately, in a bubble wrap bag, so there was no damage to the scale or even the cardboard packaging.

Front cover fell off, supplied batteries were flat.
It is not clear from the product description that the viewing panel is separate from the weighing platform. This is of marginal advantage, and it means that the scale is anchored to one spot. The batteries supplied were all dud - I tested them out of the package. After the pain of fixing this scale to the wall, the front cover (which is vertical when attached to the wall) fell off; it is only attached by some sticky tape. I do not recommend this product.

A nice idea!
I purchased this item thinking it would serve as both a kitchen clock and a kitchen scale. It's a nice idea. Basically you hang the whole thing on the wall, then when you want to weigh something you remove the outside ring (with a glass cover), set it on the counter, and the clock on the wall becomes the readout for the scale. They are even nice enough to include all 7 AAA batteries! What I didn't realize was that the unit needs to sit directly above the location where you're going to use the scale because it uses an rfid technology and the two have to have a direct sight line between them. In my kitchen the clock sits on a wall that doesn't have a counter beneath it, and I didn't think it would be practical to weigh things on the floor. The other thing I didn't care for was that the clock was hard to read. It has black numbers on a grey background which you can make out if the room is very bright, but not at all in dim light. And you can't really view it from an angle. You almost have to be standing directly in front of it to read the time and temperature. When you're weighing something this lovely blue light is activated that pretty much solves any readability issues, but as soon as you're done with the scale, it goes back to being dark. The package is a little misleading since it shows the numbers on a bright blue background. I figured that's how the clock would look. So, if you're looking for a digital kitchen scale, and you have a spot on the wall directly above where you like to weigh things, and you don't really care about being able to read the time and temperature, it might work for you!My suggestions to the manufacturer; make the clock more readable and use bluetooth technology so the scale can be placed further from the clock.

Need to replace included batteries before it will work
I bought this scale/clock from Amazon last week, and as, one other reviewer said, the batteries that came with it were defective, and the item did not work until I replaced all seven batteries. There is a you tube video on this product which also states that the batteries that come with the product do not work, so this must be a common problem. Once I changed the batteries the product worked correctly. Now that it is working, I am satisfied with the product.

Received old corroded batteries
Product arrived with all old and corroded batteries that could not be used. After I got new batteries installed it seems to work OK

Buy it - you won't be disappointed. Easy to use, looks great, and works great.
I just purchased my second of these scales - I like them so much. The first has withstood years of service (13+) and is only starting to have some issues, likely only due to my own mistreatment (it has gotten banged around a lot and still keeps working). It looks great on a wall and gives you the time, while allowing you to remove the outer ring and place it on the counter to function as the scale. It operates by sending infrared signals to the base attached to the wall, which then displays the weight, so you don't have to worry about oversized objects getting in the way of a clear measurement. It's simple and easy to use.

electronic kitchen scales
The item works very well. There is no problem with the IR link from sending base to display since the display is wall mounted just above the base location. Only comment is that the included 7 AAA batteries were defective (corroded) so the vendor or manufacturer should make sure fresh batteries are included when sold.
