Update: The owner of Topec reached out to me on his own accord. He wanted to make things right and make sure my set of escapement files was not rusted. Topec shipped me a new set of files. As seen in my last video, they are free from rust or marks of any kind. I've reflected this new set in my rating. I want to like these escapement files. The small ones will be very useful for jewelry making. The larger, flat file seems to have some discoloration on it which I can only assume is rust. The larger triangular file shares a discoloration mark. I'm not sure what to make of these. The rest of the files are the quality you'll get for the price and will get the job done; good for a beginner jeweler like myself. The kit comes with a stiff brass brush for cleaning the files and four circular pieces of 240 grit sandpaper. I'm not sure the gloves will be useful — the files will rip them to shreds in a moment — but I'm sure I'll find a use for them. The gloves fit a woman's hand tightly, so those with larger hands might not be able to get them on. Overall, this kit has everything I want, but one thing I don't want: rust. With so many similar kits being sold, I can't say I'd recommend this one, but all the kits are probably coming out of the same two factories in China. I'll give this kit three stars, but would have increased it to four had my files not been rusty. May your luck be better than mine.

Very easy to use, sharp, and comes with a lot of different files for different needs. Will definitely be buying again.

I haven't really put everything through its paces yet but the files I have used perform well, are comfortable to hold and use, and bite well into both metal and wood. Overall I'd say it's a good set especially for the very reasonable price point. My case did include two left-handed gloves rather than a proper left-right pair, but I have to say they both fit and seem pretty good which is impressive.

I really like this file set. I purchased it in June 2024, almost exactly one year ago. I have been using it for my 3d prints to file supports and things that don't just quite fit together and need a little help. A few weeks ago the file I use most, the long flat file snapped when i was pushing hard trying to file the inside of a hole that needed to fit a tiny motor that wasn't going in. I contacted Topec from the Amazon seller page and asked if it was still under warrantee and if not could I just purchase the one small Flat File. They said they would send one out immediately. Not even a week later I received a package and to my shocking surprise was a FULL new file kit! I couldn't believe it. The customer support goes above and beyond. I can't recommend this product enough if you need a hobby file set. This is the place to get it from!

I'm not going to say that these aren't worth it, I'm just going to say this: when steel isn't hardened properly, teenie tiny little fractures form all through the structure, and sometimes any amount of stress, even just pulling the tool from it's sleeve, can cause that fracture point to become a break point. Unfortunately, I have personally experience with this from making knives and failing, so I know too well why steel needs to be hardened thoroughly. A few of the files have a curved appearance but are still straight, 2 are actually bent slightly (as pictured) and one flat out snapped in half as I pulled it out of the pocket. My guess is that they aren't left in the oil long enough to fully harden, which caused a major stress point. All in all, I'm just gonna take the loss, most of the files are hardened where it's needed, but I'll be sticking with the overpriced Milwaukee files from now on. I'll eventually harden these myself to make them fully usable, but right now these would only be good for wood, not metal.

Good needle files. I wasn’t shore if they would work. I managed to take the burrs off my battery’s and these files will be good enough for me jewellery making. Well pleased thanks

Very useful for wood carving.

One of the carbon steel files was slightly bent on arrival. I tried to straighten it with nothing more than my hands and it snapped into three pieces. So I'm one file down before I even used it. Otherwise, for £10, this isn't a bad set of files and look like they will probably handle fairly light work for which I bought them. Also note, the diamond files are only coated with grit on about half the length of the file, though in fairness you can see this on the product photos. They're ok for the price but only that.
